I heard you make any new potential trainees kiss your ring before you'll consider training them! Can you confirm this?

50/50 if you ask me, although I have to say if I had to pick a winner it would be Dunn

there prob no fitter boxer in Scotland than brophy
Prob No fitter boxer in Scotland??? Find this a very disrespectful statement to make as brophy couldn't last four rounds with grooves a fighter with stamina questions in the past.
Ricky Burns on the other hand has been twelve rounds with the likes of martinez, figuerea, katsidis, relikh, beltran, crawford, zlaticanin, arther, johannson etc...
I like to judge and compare by analysing performance and result of the fight. So for me I "prob" think Burns is proven to be at least one boxer fitter in Scotland than Brophy.
This is not a dig at Brophy, i quite like him and feel he is a nice tidy boxer al beit at a domestic level. I feel his lack of knockout power is his major weakness. I think he will come up short in this fight but fairplay for taking on a risky fight in Australia. Good luck

I respect your opinion but can't understand your thought process that David can't be that fit has he was stopped by George in four rounds? George is a very big puncher and if he lands on the money your in trouble no matter your level of fitness
Take my word that there isn't a fitter boxer in Scotland

Anyway David is going over to oz to rip this title off Dunn and nothing less than 100% will be good enough

I have tried for years to work out why Brophy doesn't stop more opponents. He is a big strong lad and seems to punch very hard, but there's something missing. You know, I'm no expert but having seen him close up I think he actually 'stops' his punches as they land - in other words he doesn't follow through.
I don't know if you've ever played golf? But, a big problem for some golfers off the tee is that the club slows down just after they hit the ball and the club doesn't swing right round. It means that when the club hits the ball the golfer doesn't get full power. I knew its a strange analogy but its the only way I can get my point over. I think David needs to punch THROUGH his opponent NOT punch AT him. Instead of landing on the target, he should be striking six inches BEYOND the target!!!
Does this make sense? What do I know ???

I take your point but coming from a background of testing high level athletes across various different sports, there is a big difference of being able to perform in training compared to performing in an event, match, fight. My point was that while Brophy may in fact be very fit he has yet to show it in a high level fight. The only reading I can take from Brophy was that in his biggest fight he only lasted four rounds. Compare this to Ricky Burns who is tried and tested at world class level over 12 rounds. That's not to say Brophy is not "fit" its just in my view he is still unproven compared the like likes of a Burns.

This is a very interesting observation. It happens in almost every sport. From my experience a big factor that comes into this, is focusing on the process too much and not on the end result. A boxing example would be a boxer having an internal focus while he punches such as overthinking his foot position, his torso position, his hand position etc...while he punches. Almost trying to be too correct and overloading the brain...instead of having an external focus e.g. solely thinking on the target.

what your not taking into account is both boxers abilities, Ricky do remember was trained by myself and it was with my help he turned into a championship fighter, in davids case he done one 10 rounder with ease and sparred many 10 rounders with much higher ranked fighter without an fitness issues.
Your point seems irrelevant if a boxer is stopped in a contest how on earth can you say it's due to good fitness or lack of?

I watched it on a internet stream and not a great one.. It was a very close fight. Dunn is nothing special does everything good.. He rightly so will go in as favourite. He has a good win against Bursak. In saying that I think brophy has a genuine chance here. Not a great deal of difference between them. Both not massive punchers, I think if Billy gets his tactics right. Which he normally does then this will come down to who is the fitter man.. I know all too well how hard it is to get a decision away from home but I'm going to Say Brophy on points..
Dunn's record of 22 wins 18 kos says he is a big puncher.Dunn is fit as well to beat him he got to keep moving and tie him up close in then dunn gets frustrated.judging is ok out there but like any where close fights go home corner.

His knock outs are at a far lower level.. If you actually watch him he's not that big a hitter.. Groves hits way harder.. Records are very very deceiving
