Ed also had long stints as the press officer for Panix and FW and furthermore he is university educated. He has worked his way up in regard to sky too, he wasn't gifted a job

University educated being a prerequisite... that's a bit snobby? And he's a good press officer I'm sure. But a dreadful presenter.

As for time spent.... It doesn't matter how long you might wait for a dump to turn into a butterfly... it won't.
The reply was aimed at your comment indicating he was lacking intelligence and training, so in that respect you are wrong, as for your opinions regarding his presenting abilities I wholeheartedly disagree with you. You seem to have an agenda.

Ok. But you lied about his journalistic training.... what do they call that now? 'Fake news'? Lacking intelligence, and experience? Not ever implied and I would say definitely not to both those accusations. If you think he's a good presenter, I would suggest you either have an agenda yourself or you don't c watch any TV. His moronic monotone has been present since his voicing of film edits. Yes he knows about boxing, possibly better than anyone in the business. But a presenter needs delivery... confidence..... acting.... charisma... Robinson has none of those. He should be a researcher and interview boxers at best. That's his limit.
Bang wrong. If you want your presenter to display such traits presumably you'd be happy with Graham Norton presenting the show

A sports anchor should be knowledgeable , measured and informative. The problem with too many of the modern day breed is that they're putting on a performance, desperate to showcase themselves, convinced that they're the star of the show, angling for that big money transfer to light entertainment.

Ed Robinson is first class.

As I've said he never seems to give an opinion, which in most cases is acceptable because he's there to have no side and provide unbiased anchoring.
I like Ed and I also like Bunce, they're both opposites, I'd say.

Didn't reggaereggae also come out with that tale about Buncey and the biros ?

We may have a failed sports presenter on these pages with an axe to grind against boxing anchormen.

No axe to grind, but wooden top Ed Robinson would not last 2 seconds as a presenter on any kind of main stream sports show worth its salt - it's only because boxing on sky under the hapless watch of Smith has turned in to a remote backwater, where any heavy arsed buffoon can get a presenters role. It's achingly bad.

Well mighty warrior that's because all mainstream sports programmes in the UK the last ten years only employ illiterate oafish or rentagob ex sportsmen as pundits or presenters.

Ed is the last in a long line of the ilk of Des Lynam and Harry Carpenter.

Robinson and his journalistic training and dues belongs to a bygone era. The unique qualities he brings to the table are he was an ex pro fighter (albeit very very briefly).

Also u guys are forgetting how muzzled he is by Adam Smith. He isn't allowed to be himself or offer an opinion. He isn't even allowed to growl like the rest of them by Smith.

If he was unleashed and allowed to growl away and be outspoken it may be different.

As an example take a look at how muzzled and professional and "quiet" steve Bunce was during his ITV boxing first days and than his stints on the BBC and Sky.

It was only when he got his own tv channel and tv shows that he became the loud boisterous fat man in a suit about to explode, incredulous at everything, shouting , farting and screaming till 5am than having a wwank over Michael Buffers nieces off camera with Lillis

Frankie Warren should poach Ed Robinson to allegedly and give him his own show.

It seems blasphormus to in any way critique Ed on here. He's full of knowledge, seems a lovely guy but you have to admit he lacks the right kind of urgency and charisma of someone like Pugatch (sp) or the excellen Alex Steadman. I admire sky for giving opportunities to the the guys who have made the tea and worked their way up but it doesn't mean the end product is good. Andy Scott, who is a mulit talented member of the team, can edit, produce etc much like Robinson just seems to lack the pazazz in the post fight interviews. I agree it's not about the interviewer but you need someone who can keep the pace up when asking the correct questions. Mike Costello should be that man for sky.

But it works both ways, Ross t Jenkins was an excellent appointment to toe 2 toe, believe he too is an AP - but his style just works really well on the podcast, arguably better than Ed Draper.

Can't knock smith for burying and bringng through his talent but sometimes you need to bring in outside talent.

People always get themselves in little tizzies when it comes to presenters like "has he/she ever boxed?" "Has he/she ever played football?" and so on. A presenter is there to present to the viewer and kind of hold the show together, the talking heads are the ones who are supposed to be knowledgeable, but unfortunately boxing has gone the same way as football and just picks ex-pros just based on the fact they did the sport regardless of their ability to actually articulate what is going on. Carl Froch hasn't even heard of half the fighters he's asked to give an opinion on and the rest of them just regurgitate the same old shite week in week out like Alan Hansen with his "Diabolical defending" "Shocking defending" and "Schoolboy defending" what the fornicate does that even mean? I played football as a schoolboy and we had a good defence.

Thank God for that. He really was awful, and sucked the life out of everything with his dull drone. If you're reading Smith, get seriuos and get dempsey on the payroll.
