The jungle drums are beating the name Brad Skeete. Opponent to be officially announced in the next few days.

I heard Skeete as well. He's 6"1 and 27-1. Only loss was unanimous verses Frankie Gavin. Watched a bit of him on YouTube and you would think he would be quite awkward being so tall and long.

Long and useful jab from what I have seen. Would worry some more than Horn though. As we have seen he attacks from all kinds of angles and will get inside.

This would be excellent replacement for Pac.

If team Horn is trying to maximize reward while minimizing risk taking a fight with Skeete is not the way to do it. There is real risk in this fight and I doubt the reward is significantly more than taking a lesser challenge.
Sure there are better welterweights than Skeete but he is no bum and would be a live dog if this fight happens.
Props to Horn if this fight happens.

Here's the WBO top 15 from which Horn had to select from. Who do you see as offering more reward for less risk than Skeete??

1 Pacquiao - no
2 Matthysse
3 Skeete - no
4 Kavaliauskas
5 Ponomarev
6 Shelestyuk
7 Santtillan
8 Veron
9 Vargas
10 Robinson
11 Corcoran
12 Danyo
13 Ocampo
14 Abduqaxarov
15 Clayton

I was expecting an opponent much closer to WBO 15. I don't know if any of the guys below Skeete could bring more money to the table but some of them represent less risk of wiping out the possible rematch with Pac.

Geez. How in the hell is Matthysse rated so high?...

He'd be an ideal opponent if Horn was looking to try his hand in the USA.

Not to get ahead of myself though... the Poms have made a habit to rain on the parade of our fighters in recent years....

Another name is now said to be in the mix. Gary Corcoran.

i would stay away from Skeete , too tall too ackward , not enough reward for the risk,, make waves and try to get a unifiction fight , and at least make retirement money,, maybee Khan that would be risky has well , but decent money ,, still i suppose with limited recources and money behind them , it will be more a case of grab what you can .

Khan isn't rated top 15 with the WBO.

The working date for Horn's challenge has been changed from Nov 12th (sunday) to Nov 25th (saturday).

Agree he's not rated , but when you have the right people behind you and the big name , it does'nt seem to matter too much nowadays , Unfortunatly

Pac rematch was the only bout that was going to attract a decent amount of revenue in Brisbane and for big money fights he will still have to look towards the US or UK.

Im not reading too much into his next bout if he fights Corcoran, who offers nothing but to get the mandatory out of the way.

Where he decides to go from there is a different story. I understand the risk/reward veiw, but rewards comes with risks.... should he decide to go down that route there are a few former world champions in the division that could be ideal preparation for a unification bout.

I'm sure he will try to do that if he beats Pac in the big $$$ rematch. Jeff doesn't strike me as a cherrypicker.

How about:

Should the WBO sanction the fight and allow Horn to keep his belts, Horn v Miguel Cotto for Cotto's belts at Suncorp.
Horn's camp has the financial backing for a huge fight and outside of Manny this is that.
I think it's a pretty good move. A good performance against a fighter like Cotto, win or lose, would do wonders for Horn on the international scale and he could hold out for Manny after that bout.
I believe the money to lure Cotto to Australia is available.
It would be a win, win for Horn.

A similar scenario to Brook v Golovkin.

Cotto isn't likely to cross an ocean for anything less than a career best payday.
That would mean north of $10 million for him.

Yeah ive heard about tbis possibility for a little while now. Despite being a superb boxer Crawford isnt a huge draw himself. Its a fight that would make a lot of sense though, if both guys are eyeing off a bout with Thurman some time in the future.
