:OhYes: super-nice guy. I'll never forget Benn cheering him on passionately for the second Eubank fight, they interview him between rounds and he's saying how odd it is, he should be cheering for a guy who beat him (in a fight that was a big heated rivalry itself at the time),
of course that was an expression of how much he hated Eubank as much as liked and respected Watson.
:TU: now if you'll excuse me I have to bicker with the Latin lover, fat git, about calling the bickering thread his paradise!

Hagler provided the greatest commentary ever in the Leonard/hearns rematch. " Get him Tommy!"
Ha. I think I'm right, in that commentary he always referred to Leonard as Leonard, and Tommy as Tommy? No favouritism there then, lol. I seem to recall one time him saying something like 'Leonard's being tricky now (as in, sly) Tommy needs to press him', he clearly wanted Hearns to beat him so badly.
Foreman was another biased commentator. It was a total popularity contest with him. If he liked a bum he was "great."

Oh come on mate that's harsh, Watsons had his problems since the Eubank fight and his hospitalisation and being wheelchair-bound and all but he's disabled, not retarded.
I'm able bodied and mentally fit...and Watson wasn't a Heavyweight.. And nothing wrong with being a Brit -- but I'm an American.

Post your birth certificate so we know you're not a veggie grown in Kenya. And post your name, address, and phone number since you want everyone to know exactly who you are, how many times you've been married, and if you've ever been arrested for assault and battery.

I make no claims to a unique personal history, as you do.

Come on, you made this huge claim about having had a unique honourable discharge from the USMC, contrary to Supreme court rulings, blank out your personal details and post your DD214 and prove me an idiot for calling you a terrible, terrible liar.

I dunno, but I do remember watching his fight live on the telly with Alan Minter,
when the crazed Britons tossed all that debris and stuff into the ring.
The ring annoucers seemed to indicate it was directed against Marvelous Marvin Hagler,
but my impression in watching it on the telly, was that it was more directed at Minter
for loosing the fight.

I didn't make anything huge. The Viet Nam War was wrong and that's what I believed. I don't claim a unique personal history. The Courts made no ruling on what an individual discharge could be.. The military makes most of those decisions.. The court ruled Ali was free to reject military service based on his beliefs and make many other individual rulings.. At one time the court ruled that slavery was legal.. At other times that segregation was legal.. They've made many right and wrong decisions.. Hurricane Carter had 20 years of decisions going against him and he only needed 1 correct ruling to be set free.

It's like seeing a guy with a cheap glass eye that looks like a marble.. It's like, WHOOAH stay out of this guy's way.. Maybe the rest of his face is unfortunate as well so he tries to go with the look by dressing tough and acting surly, like he's looking for trouble. Joe Pesci played characters where you knew you could kick his ass, but also knew he'd knife you or shoot you dead in retaliation when he got the chance.
Well, Hagler wasn't exactly a pretty boy.

They did not... Ali believed in holy war or righteous war. He was not a pacifist. Each case is decided on it's own merits.

Ray won the 76 Olympics, had the smile, the it factor like Sam Bowie. Marvin didn't have that charisma. Plus, that mental thing he had limited him.

Kinda strange to make a big racial thing out of Leonard being more commercially successful than Hagler.

Last I heard, both guys were black, so why is the race card introduced?

George Foreman was by far the most commercially successful boxer in fistic history.... How'd HE manage?

Had he been white a lot of people would be making a big deal out of it -- saying a black champ couldn't do that.
