Have you been to many Khan fights, Dirk? There is no obviously about it when it comes to Khan and ticket sales.
Yes, I've been to Khan fights in Newcastle and Manchester. Newcastle was full and Manchester (Barrera) seemed to have sold pretty well. An article from the time http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/others ... elnik.html suggests Khan did 10k at the MEN for Barerra which is comfortably beyond what the likes of Fury, Saunders and Flanagan have done for the same venue.mickey1975 wrote: ↑19 Dec 2017, 07:47 Have you been to many Khan fights, Dirk? He's never going to be a big seller because he's a boring fighter and a boring bloke, so I'm not suggesting he has to get on the road. I just wonder what the financial impact is of routinely setting up fights in a massive venue which never gets anywhere near close to selling out for his fights. If Flanagan was a band repeatedly turning up at the MEN you'd think the promoters would suggest a smaller venue wouldn't you?
Barrera did a lot more than 10k. Khan-Kotelnik a lot less than 6. Khan-Diaz in Sheffield less than 4.dirk2686 wrote: ↑19 Dec 2017, 07:55Yes, I've been to Khan fights in Newcastle and Manchester. Apologies - I was at Barrera and said it seemed to have sold pretty well. The article links to Khan Kotelnik doing 10k, not Khan Barrera.mickey1975 wrote: ↑19 Dec 2017, 08:33Barrera did a lot more than 10k. Khan-Kotelnik a lot less than 6. That's my issue. He's not been a guy lost in the wilderness without a meaningful fight available. The Crolla fight would have been big, and Linares and Garcia really are quality names. It's like he's intentionally being kept under the radar.Naandrew wrote: ↑19 Dec 2017, 11:44 Threads gone off topic a bit here.....
Anyway as some know I've rated Flanagan on here highly for years but 2017 has been another wasted year with only one fight. Whilst Petrov was a solid win on paper it didn't really set the world alight.
Sure he will become a two weight world champion but who is Maurice Hooker. I've never seen him fight but all I hear is he got a lucky decision against Darleys Perez which isn't encouraging.
Then I see Jack Catterall high in the rankings at 140. I reckon by the time this fight takes place Jack will be in a mandatory position and will be Terrys next opponent. Catterrall is a good fighter but a fight between him and Terry doesn't excite me.
Going from the possibility of fighting Linares or Mikey Garcia to this is dissapointing.
I've gone on enough about the Crolla fight. It was never happening with Joe Gallagher training Crolla.dirk2686 wrote: ↑19 Dec 2017, 12:15That's my issue.
