Ha ha! This thread started off silly and it's gone downhill from there! Does anyone have Popeye and Bluto on their list?

Heretic wrote: 26 Dec 2017, 18:16 Does anyone who voted for Kownacki to be in top 15 want to make case for him?

Do you see him as being some awesome talent?

Is he there for beating Szpilka? The same mister pin who got easily beaten by Jennings and went life and death against Mollo... Twice?

Other names in hes resume don't ring any bells to me. I have only seen the Szpilka match where he looked good against very average opponent.

I am bit surprised to see him on so many of the lists :maybe:
Kownacki to me seems like better version of Ruiz Jr, less skilled technically, but throws a lot of punches, and punches hard
and let's say Whyte have done something impressive? he arugably lost to Chisora, his win vs Helenius is not really impressive at all, i think Kownacki could beat Chisora and Helenius, and his fight vs Whyte is almost 50/50
i guess that for most, Szpilka was a favourite vs Chisora or Helenius before losing to Kownacki
now Szpilka is one of the most destroyed boxer at age of 28, he is about to fight a movie actor in mma, he also made wwe-alike show recently when he entered the cage and tried to punch this actor, so all that makes Kownacki's win less impressive as Szpilka seems to be like top 100 now, but still i can see Kownacki beating the likes of Whyte, Duhaupas, Hammer etc
let's se how he develops, he is a 100% pro boxer since his Szpilka fight, before he was also working on building constructions or something like that

you menton you rate on who deserves what but how do Kabayel bryan schwarz mansoure Kownacki browne etc deserve ratngs if pulev doesnt. you rate the following guys instead of pulev

bryan: never beaten anyone of note and doesnt impress at all. best win a decision over derrick rossy, who pulev stopped in 5 in 2011.

kaybayel: only win of note over chisroa, who pulev beat easier. pulevs got a much stronger record overall

schwarz: done nothing

mansour: at 9!? he barely could beat travis kauffman and was getting beaten up last fight by a fat unranked guy with 11 fights. mansours very lucky that fight ended when it did.

knownacki: a fatty whose only notable win over a guy who couldnt win a round vs jennings and was ktfo of the year by wilder

browne: struggled with juluis long and down 8-1 when he came back to beat washed up chagaev
Pulev is one that I think is either over-rated, or past it. What has he done lately, other than a SD over the badly faded Chisora, or beat a few past it nearly 40 or over 40 guys? The only real challenge he has had recently, he ran away from. (AJ)

The others, well, an argument can be made to take them off....or not. Some are unbeaten. It was hard to come up with 15. Dillan Whyte is another I put in the category of Chisora, Pulev, and Breazeale. Not worthy of for sure being in top 10.

I'd make a definite exception for Hughie Fury, Kiwi, even I can't justify a top ten ranking. Parker couldn't pin down Fury, and as much as I have huge respect for Breazeale, he'd find herding cats far easier than nailing Hughie. Dom has a lot going for him but speed and technique aren't among his assets.

If Hughie had been more aggressive and sought to punish Parker the way his mate Billy Joe did LeMieux, he would have taken that WBO crown, because even if Parker found him easier to hit as a result, I can't see Joe having the power to stop Hughie who appears to have a good chin.

I pretty much agree with that Jamamb although I do take badhusker's point about the lack of ambition demonstrated by Pulev's selection of opponents ...

Trevor Bryan : Agreed. The guy did sweet f...-all in 2017 and should be nowhere near the top 15 or 20.

Agit Kabayel : Beat Herve Hubeaux to win the European title but I agree he doesn't deserve to be ranked above Pulev ... yet.

Tom Schwarz : Shows promise but I agree has done nothing to warrant a world ranking.

Amir Mansour : You do exaggerate - he's not even seventy yet :D
I've a lot of admiration for this guy, he's a warrior to be sure. He may have made hard work of Kaufman but he gave Breazeale hell, before having to retire on an injury. Also I think you're way too dismissive of the "fat unranked guy" who is Sergei Kuzmin, and although he hasn't earned a ranking, is potentially a contender. Mansour was going to be his breakthrough fight until the unfortunate injury.

Adam Kownacki : Ok he doesn't have the chiselled physique (at least he should be spared accusations of being on PEDs), and has achieved little thus far apart from the win over Szpilka who may have struggled to win rounds against Jennings but managed to win almost all of them against Wilder before the lights went out. He has a lot more to offer but doesn't deserve to be ranked above Pulev on achievements to-date.

Lucas Browne : I can't argue with what you said, but I respect Lucas Browne a lot more than you do. He is undefeated, he came from behind to knock out Chagaev, in a title fight, and represents a problem to anyone who is prepared to stand and trade with him. I agree he doesn't deserve to be ranked above Pulev though.

All in all yours is a fair assessment I'd say.

As far as Mansour, I went with him where many went with Breazeale. I don't think either guy really deserves to be in the top 10. If you watched their fight, a 40 something much shorter Mansour won every round against Breazeale until it had to be stopped because AM almost bit through his tongue.

Its hard to make a solid top 10, and much harder to come up with 15. I think most of us agree on that, but will never agree on the order of rank.

Nah, Breazeale wasn't competitive at all against AJ. That's pretty damming. Also, he arguably lost to Kassi and was getting whooped by Mansour until the broken jaw/tongue incident (forgot what the stoppage was due to).

How is Pulev overrated? The SD was BS. Watch the fight. He won every round against Chisora. Only a handful of dudes have done that to Chisora. Pulev has one of the better resumes of the division.

7. Jarrell Miller. ( Something's Missing)

cs: Yeah he needs to bulk up a bit ;-)

8. Lucas Browne. ( Either the most overrated or the most Underrated guy on the list)

12. Johann Duhauppas. ( No Threat)

14. Carlos Takem. ( Will figure again in a big bout)

How do you work that out? Hughie fought Parker in September. Andy Ruiz didn't fight in 2017 but most of us have got him in our top 15. He's scheduled to return to the ring next month. Opponent to be confirmed .
