Yes maybe! Hahahahaha But when considering the best, I think Bugner lies behind the top 10. Some names I like:

McCullough
Wharton
Eubank
Joe Calzaghe
Froch

On a journeyman level Miguel Matthews and the Smith twins (RIP) were solid as a rock

Eubank Snr has to be my number 1. His head even looks impregnable. Can’t remember his legs ever ‘going’
I think the only time Eubanks legs might have trembled slightly was when Michael Watson had him down late in their rematch,
that was pure exhaustion in my opinion, the actual punches watson 'put him down' with were pretty innocuous, glancing and not heavy shots- Watson himself was really fatigued by that point and Eubank was simply wilting from the pace
Good points on both sides. I believe at that point Eubank was exhausted and it seemed like his spirit was broken. But Eubank not only seemed to have the best chin but also the strongest spirit.

So he never gave up.

It's not the best of Henry's fights to watch. Times were changing. 100's of us little ones had become men and there was a real undercurrent in the air. The bad side in Henry came out that night, forget the boxing, he wanted a straightner afterwards! Fair knockdown, though.

He's not British,or Oliver McCall.
My bad, didn't read the title properly.

Froch, Chisora and Woods all had/have pretty solid chins.

Good calls, but Froch was gone against Groves and Taylor, Woods against Ole.

He always brought a crowd with him ! saw it first hand when I had my debut on his undercard when he fought Thornberry

Other obvious one for me is Henry Wharton - Mickey can elaborate, but I can't recall anyone, including Benn and Eubank, even making him blink with their bombs. In fact, should have mentioned Wharton in the Cult Heroes thread as used to love watching him!
I was at the Benn Wharton fight & Benn fought smart rather than get too involved in a punch up.

It was a good bill. Oliver McCall was on it & entered the ring in a bowler hat. A few months later he knocked out Lennox Lewis.

Ole Klementsen (spelling?). That bloke had a mad punch.

Nunn-Little as well. The right hand Benn hit Henry with in the 8th would have felled a donkey. Actually, the only time someone was troubled in the fight was when Benn was clipped with a left hook at the end of the fourth. He was gone. Great corner team and recuperative powers got him through it.

When he was up & coming Nunn was one of my favourites but by the time he fought Little I was cheering the little fella on.

I was only a few rows back from the ring for that one. Tickets were bought for me by someone I'd done a business favour for.

If Eubank had fought the following -

Jackson
Jones Jr
Hopkins
McCallum
Toney
McClellan
Barkley

And not been head-shot kayoed by any of them, then yes. But aside from Benn, Calzaghe and Thompson who did he fight who boasted anything near elite level power?

I'd say Wharton had elite level power, if not, world class , just couldn't land them at elite level! He said Eubank was squealing when he caught him to the body. Also Robin Reid, problem was it was the last 30 seconds of the fight!

How many of them hit harder than Benn? McClellan?

Calzaghe didn’t have elite level power either.

Ken Buchanan had a great chin. He was down against Duran in the opening seconds of their 15-rounder but was up immediately and fought on to the end of the 13th round when a Duran body shot (it was ruled legal by the referee) felled him again. Miguel Velazquez also dropped Kenny in the ninth round of their 15-rounder in Spain. Buchanan got up to lose a close one on points.

Calazaghe used to be able to hit like a horse but hand problems forced him to change his style.

I did say 'anything near'. He certainly hit harder than any in Eubank's procession of duff defences. And he dropped Mr iron jaw twice.

You don't think Julian Jackson hit harder than Benn? Really? That astonishes me.

Benn's early career kayo ratio flatters his much vaunted power hugely.

The fighters I listed had waaaaay more skill and tenacity than the vast majority of Eubank opponents. If he had faced them they would unquestionably have made more openings and landed on him significantly more frequently than Storey, Amaral, Jarvis et al. They'd have made him work more too, which wasn't something he relished. If he had eaten all of their leather we could safely call Chris the top chin. But he didn't fight them. Hence I think it's a rush to crown him top beard.

Wharton told me personally Eubank was vulnerable to the body, Reid could take a hell of a shot, Benn chinny, but he couldn't hardly get his hands on him. He knocked out Ottke as well in the last seconds in Germany in the Ams and the ref bent down to raise Svens hand for a draw. Ray Close went in under a minute, the list goes on. He laughs at me if I ask about his am card. 70+ stoppages with headgear... One stoppage loss, at 17 to Glenwood Brown in America.
