I read somewhere that the Ali-Frazier gloves from SuperFight 1 were 8 oz Everlast models and were filled only with horsehair.
Much better to bang with than the more modern versions. I don't remember back than any controversies over what type of glove would be used in fights and what the weight would be.
Things didn't get bogged down as much in stifling details as they do today.

shouldnt those gloves be in the Boxing Hall of Fame ?
What if whoever gets them looses them or they get stolen ?
Because that is how history gets lost, when eventually it gets into the hands of someone who really doesn't give a sh*t.
The eight-ounce "Sammy Frager" model gloves
.... I knew they were 8 oz
I always wondered what the fascination was to have an item a famous person wore, or touched, or lit for you.
we all breathe the same air everybody else breathes.. A stranger bummed a cigarette from Liston in the 1950's at a time when Sonny still smoked occasionally.. Liston lit the cigarette for him and said, "enjoy." The guy took a couple puffs and when Liston was out of sight he snuffed out the cigarette and saved it... Wow!!! Maybe he thought he could sell it.

If you think that's strange,I seem to remember someone saying that had a clippingof some of Sonny Liston's pubic hair.
(maybe it was a groupie) I cant remember the source, but I read this back in the 1970's
about the history of the BEATLES sgt. pepper ALBUM.
maybe it was because he was on the album cover (or rather his wax figure from Madam Tussauds Museum).

If you wanted a lock of Liston's hair he regularly got it cut very short... So pubic was the way to go.
Maybe one of his girl friends was gifted with it for giving him an exceptionally satisfying BJ.

cold hard accurate facts?.....STOP IT! You know what? You say you are entitled to your opinion, but you don't hold that for anybody else. How is it possible? You seem rather petty and argumentative....At least GoldenOldie had a good laugh this evening. What else ya' got?

People are entitled to their opinion... I have nothing against them stating their opinion... I hold that for everybody.
Then I state cold, hard, facts, like losses, beatings, upsets, embarrassments, and savage poundings these so called sacrosanct American heroes of the distant and murky passed suffered – and point out that many of the top boxers performing today haven’t suffered such humiliating defeats because of greater technique and skill, and people start attacking me personally.
I’m entitled to my views. I believe the science of Boxing is progressing along with better nutrition and training methods. Heavyweights are bigger, stronger, faster, and better and America no longer dominates because large slices of the planet now have professional boxing that didn’t have it before and there's more fighters.
