Wilder only really has that amazing straight right at the highest level, but it's the very punch I can see giving Fury nightmares. Fury likes to rely on his long legs to stay out of harm's way, often moving back with his right hand guarding his chin and left hand low. From that position he turns away slightly to take the last of the sting out of long punches.

But if Wilder takes a halfstep forward and throws caution to the wind, and against Fury rather than Joshua he might, what happens if Fury can't stop that shot finding his temple? Does he bring his left hand up and invite Wilder to shred punches in combinations?

I think he'd do better just mauling Wilder as much as possible, hoping to deal with whatever Wilder was able to land on the inside, but then when Wilder gets away I think he's all wrong for Fury. I'd also expect Fury to fight at range as he did against Wlad, so unless Wilder walks straight onto one, I don't see how he's discouraged from being more aggressive than usual.

I think there'd be more stamina-saving lulls against Joshua because he and Wilder intimidate each other.

Wlad had a legendary 1-2 straight right, Fury didn't give him much of a chance to throw it, let alone land it. I just remember the first 4 rounds of Wilder Washington, where a reasonable boxer ran rings around him until he took his foot off the gas

I don’t know, if Fury starts marching forward then I can see him being caught with a big looping right like Cunningham did him with. If Wilder catches him with that he ain’t getting back up.

If Fury wins, it’s by staying on the outside, constantly moving and scoring with the odd shot and very occasional combo. Worrying for him is what stage his legs tire - Wilder carries his power until late in the fight. He’ll make Wilder look foolish in the early rounds

Fury was too cocky against Cunningham. He will be more cautious against obviously more dangerous Wilder.

Exactly, he doesn’t do that by mauling.

If Fury can concentrate for 12 rounds then he will win a lobsided decision. Don't think it matters too much on him dropping anymore weight, even now he will be too good of a boxer to control things. If he boxes like he did earlier on his career I.e Cunningham then he will be banged out in 3 rounds.

If tyson can produce the performance vs klits again he will beat any heavyweight around now but thats the question, can fury get back to that level of fitness?

Tyson with a good 12 week camp can beat anyone. I would much prefer to see his uncle in charge than his dad.
Of course we don't know what happened but Peter did a great job with Tyson. Look at the difference from the McDermott fights when Tyson was with his other uncle to when he beat Vlad.
The only time Peter wasn't in his corner was against Cunningham

Totally agree mate. His uncle got the best outta him. I don't think this guy training him just now is the answer.

I wanna see the look on Wilders face when Fury steps on the scale the day before the fight and weighs 245

Yeah. I guess, after Pianeta fight it will be more clear. Theoretically he can do it. He has already lost a lot of extra weight and he's still in prime age.

Wilders style will make Fury look a million dollars for as long as Fury can move around the ring. As soon as Fury tires then it would become a different fight. A fit focused Fury wins on points comfortably. Wilders windmills won't land

Right now I'm taking it with a mountain of salt. More than likely an attempt to keep Fury relevant and push along ticket sales for the Frampton show. Be very interesting if it happens though, especially if its in December, so soon after Tyson's return.

A well-studied 1-2's a bit different to a lunging lead right, though, and that was Wlad at his worst. How much of that was down to Fury we might learn in time, but I'm certain the pre-Manny version would've been more of a handful (ditto Rematch Wlad). It felt as if Wlad was caught between two minds: thinking he'd enjoy the judges' favour for being champ and not pushing it, while Vitali was shouting how risky that was at him.

Lenny wrote: 31 Jul 2018, 03:30Exactly, he doesn’t do that by mauling.
Don't get me wrong — mauling's a terrible idea, I just think an untied Wilder's way too dangerous at anything but Fury's max range, and there's only so much apparent negativity before you start losing rounds. Unlike Wlad, who (like Arsenal) tried to walk his shots in, Wilder might turn into a drunken Patterson in this one. That's my feeling at the minute. If he starts whaling and/or leaping at Fury and Fury's feet are too slow...

It's a fun fight on paper. Matador Fury needs to be as light as possible, I'd say. I don't think I'm underrating his skill, but when did he last fight a natural aggressor close to his own height and reach? If he had a granite chin he'd outpoint Wilder and Joshua, and if he had a big punch he'd probably get to them first.

I won't be too surprised if this fight happens (hope it does), because Joshua's tied up and it could well be that Rabbit doesn't fancy that fight. If Fury's doing well mentally then he might be looking to cash out here while the going's good.

He’s in his manic phase and has his training to focus on hence looking in great shape. Let’s hope there’s no injuries or pull outs to cause him to spiral back into the depressive phase.

multiple guys have actually been dropped by wilder and then got up to have there best moments and last several more rounds, some ppl here like leppy overhype wilder as having 'its over as soon as he lands' power but actually do a watch of his collection

id go for wilder now but its totally conceivable fury could get dropped but get up to beat him, wilder doesnt end things immediately when he lands his first punch ya know, hes often finishing many rounds later, deep into fights
