Fair scoring by the judges.
Graphic on screen just named Pedraza the new WBO junior featherweight champion.
Kriegel must have written it.
If Pedraza was a junior featherweight, he could avoid a shellacking from Lomachenko in December.

Totally agree!! Dogboe is now one of my favorites too. It's not like Otake is a total scrub. His 12-round decision loss to Quigg is his only defeat in the last 11 years and he had never been stopped before tonight.

Loma would most likely dominate Beltran too, so it's no great loss to see Pedraza win. Now we will at least have Pedraza as a common opponent shared with Gervonte Davis to see if Loma can match Gervonte's domination of Pedraza.
Beltran has never been anything really special, just an exciting, aggressive fighter with a good chin. Kind of like an Arturo Gatti-style fighter (except Gatti had a propensity to cut and swell a lot more than Beltran and his fights were more dramatic than Beltran's).

because lomas not a puncher or super agressive, i doubt hell stop pedraza as quickly as tank did, maybe even not as all.
tank hopefully doesnt fight another little guy coming off a loss next

It'll be every bit as dominant as Tank's victory. Whether or not he stops him as quickly isn't really all that important. He'll win a lopsided victory as usual.

But yes, the visa issue always did give Beltran the kind of human "back story" that ESPN craves, and made him a network favorite.
I wondered why the announcing team frequently referred to Beltran last night by the chummy "Ray."
Sounded like ESPN bias. They never called Pedraza "Jose."
And Beltran would have looked simply terrible versus Lomachenko.
Just an unimaginative, plodder who would have been brutally dismantled within 4 or 5 rounds.
Pedraza won't do much better, but his style indicates he won't eat every punch and should last 7 rounds or so.

Well I had this one all wrong. I thought Beltran would win comfortably, but he looked old and listless, and Pedraza looked sharper than ever.
I'd like to see Linares/Pedraza now.

Ray is his nickname. "Sugar Ray" but "Ray" is just shorter. It's same with commentators saying Mikey instead of Garcia.

Pedraza fought smart, he totally outclassed Beltran. Ray got unlucky with Loma's injury. Of course, he wouldn't won that either, but would have had a bigger payday.

I wonder how this affects Ray's visa situation.
He has to be done at 37 and twice around the clock. Good on him for getting a belt this late in his career, but it was always going to be taken back off him.
I've enjoyed watching him over the years, always fit, always courageous, and always pretty basic.

from what i read he only has to do an in person interview with immigration officials now, and will in all likelihood get a permanant green card to stay in the usa. at his stage of the application im not sure if losing will matter
