Povetkin was always over rated.
And he's more or less shot now at 39.
Arguably Joshua's best win though funnily enough.
In the manner he won , or the opponent ?
Klitschko got to be better surely ?
Yeah probably Klitschko but he hadn't fought for 2 years prior

Ballsy opening fight.
Yeah he's 39, and one of the smaller HWs in the top 20, but do not underestimate Povetkin. He is still a genuine HW contender who troubled Joshua in the opening rounds of his last fight.
If Usky is at his sharpest, and moves well, then I certainly expect Povetkin to tire second half, where Usyk can cruise to a wide points victory. If I was Povetkin, I'd go high volume early and try get Usyk out of there.

Good choice for both. Rianinsky is looking to earn back some money he wasted on Povetkin. Povetkin also have problems in his business initiatives. And all other HW that can nring money are already taken.
For Usyk it’s good to start with the smallest HW with top rank and on decline for years now.
Riabansky cut his losses with roidboy. He's with hearn now.
Povetkin left to Hearn? Link???

Ryabinsky dumped him awhile ago. I'm sure your Google will pull it up.

I just checked at Riabinsky’s boxing company site.
Povetkin still listed as World of Boxing boxer, togever with Lebedev, Bivol etc....
And on Russian boxing news site wrote a thing of Povetkin changing owner.

Really risky from Usyk. He might regret it if he takes it. He hasn’t fought anyone who can bang like Povetkin.
Joyce probably hits harder than the current Povetkin

Povetkin was never anywhere near as good as usyk. Alexander was at his best the same time of his career as usyk is now. He's been lazy ever since. The worst thing he ever did was bring Atlas into his life. Teddy kills careers.
Eh? he never lost a single fight under Atlas. Only has 2 loses, both against fighters he wouldn't beat regardless of trainer and neither when Atlas was in his corner

He's been a top fighter regardless. Atlas made him duck wlad and waste time. Wasn't teddy with him when he got a dubious decision against huck? Either way my point remains, the best povetkin I ever saw was against Byrd and chambers and he still wasn't as good as usyk.

Was Atlas his manager? Trainers takes such a decisions??
I guess his managers knew his chances vs top Klitchko and figured they can make more money when he still had zero losses.

Atlas is such an egomaniac he wouldn't take a position without some stroke. He was very outspoken about needing time for wlad. He's a pile of dung.

Just read what Riabinski said. Looks like he think that Povetkin should recover from surgery, and that’s will no let this fight happen. Looks like next Povetkin fight will be “recovery test fight”= some tomato can will be beaten by Povetkin in Kazan or Yelaterinburg-)

It would make sense.
A big heavyweight who approximates in height (if not the talent) guys such as Fury, Wilder and Joshua.
It gets Usyk accustomed to the size, and quickly erases the doubts of skeptical fans who insist he is too small for the monsters of the division.

Seems to be a pattern with Matchroom these days unfortunately.
Tease some big names first then announce someone ranked way lower blaming the better fighters for wanting too much money when they reject a low ball offer.

lol, but even that big name to you was just old, shot, and overrated
so you spin that negatively , but then do the same to the suggestion that it might not be that opponent

That would be a good HW debut for Usyk. Given the recent signing of Fury with ESPN and likely postponement of Wilder-Fury II an, Usyk-Povetkin could be the most significant HW matchup in the near future!!

Robert Helenius would be a massive step back in calibre for Oleksandr Usyk – it would be a meaningless win over a fighter that hasn’t achieved a damn thing.

Introduction to the heavyweight division. Against a massive opponent.
That's all that's necessary to justify it.

I can't think of the last guy usyk fought that wouldn't be a sound favorite over helenius.
