I think his short peak was due to the holy field fights. Seemed more the punishment looking back than him being a nutjob. I put on the first two fights with a casual fan after wilder/fury just to show the difference and though the second fight isn't as lauded as the first they pummeled each other.
The heavyweights of that era had a load of activity compared to the "throw 15 punches, land 5" era of today.

If you rewatch Whyte vs. Chisora (especially 1) and Wilder vs. Ortiz, you will realise that you are not quite right.

Exceptions but not the rule. Heavyweights were more active with more stamina as a whole in prior eras. And it was on the top level also, not just the Derrick Chisora levels. You can even argue Ortiz would've done better with Riddick Bowe's stamina. He gassed himself out which only happened to Holyfield when he had a heart condition.

Maybe we should wait and see how he handles Takam before throwing him in a hypothetical matchup with a Top 15/Top 20 all time Heavyweight

Dude, holy field and bowe landed more punches than 130lb guys like miurra/Vargas in a foty.
