Maybe maybe not. That's what makes horse racing.

Yes, they think Tyson should have competed at CW..............SenorPipino wrote: ↑08 May 2019, 13:51 If you're talking Ali, modern fans would swear that Ali wouldn't dare fight today's heavyweight giants.
He would stick to the cruiserweight division.
No telling what weight class Louis, Dempsey and Marciano would hide in![]()
.............And Holyfield should have been the LHW............

Re: Usyk out
Now you're just making stuff up, but Ali couldn't even legitimately beat fighters weighing only in the 180s without his usual cheating and fake judge decisions, like Doug Jones and Henry Cooper 1 and even club fighter Alonzo Johnson. The Johnson fight is, or was, on youtube, but they spliced off the ending when the announcers said, "I don't believe it they gave it to Clay!" Not the only Clay fight they spliced to politically correct it.

Sounds Turkish, or maybe Danish. Is he any good?

Terrible things to say.
Ali was far from popular in the 60s and no one was doing him any favours back then, they were waiting for him to fall. The Johnson result was controversial, but do you really believe Ali had any part in that? Or for the editing / removing of YouTube fight footage? Media manipulation happens all the time, but you should point your finger elsewhere.
Of course after the Frazier defeat Ali finally began to be welcomed into America's bosom. With a deal over the Vietnam ban in place Ali was able to go from villain to hero and remained the A side from there on in
With the arrival of Don King the framework for much of what was to follow was soon established. Bob Arum, Al Haymon, Lou DiBella and co all studied the King blueprint and added their own touches.
I know it's a corrupt mess, but now we will have to see what Eddie Hearn/ DAZN can do. At least there's plenty of action coming up!

Please. The Johnson fight, Cooper 1, Doug Jones, and the two Liston farces all took place in the 60s. All highway robberies. Clay patterned his act after Gorgeous George the wrestler. He was another comedy act showboat like George but with a big dose of Black Muslim racism and terroristic gangster tactics thrown in. You're right about him being disliked tho. He pretty much singlehandedly brought an end to sportsmanship in american boxing. Now he's supposed to be some kind of demi-god. Screw that.

Ali twice destroyed and humiliated the most feared fighter on the planet.
You can whine about fixes, but there's no evidence, of course. It's just predictable, tired sour grapes by Ali detractors.
Boxing would have been in dreary doldrums without Ali's giant, mythic presence in the 60s and 70s.
A much poorer sport indeed.
Ali didn't become the most famous, revered and honored athlete ever because he was the ongoing recipient of some imaginary generosity and skullduggery on the part of boxing's powers.
He accomplished it through superior talent, unmatched charisma, and the endless ability to overcome adversity by calling upon amazing heart and toughness. Time after time after time.
A demi-God? Ali's impact and legacy in boxing and society is far greater than that.
To try and deny that is archaic, rank foolishness.

Yeah right. After the second farce the newsmedia stationed a man at the exit of the arena. He couldn't find one single customer who thought the fight was legit.
"A demi-God? Ali's impact and legacy in boxing and society is far greater than that."
This has become like some kind of bizarre cargo cult.

Liston - Clay 2. What baloney. Liston gets hit with nothing but a little tap, takes a dive. Look at that ham acting as he rolls around on the floor! Clay doesn't even bother to go to a neutral corner. Fight resumes. Ref Walcott then stops it for no reason at all.

Looks like the cargo cultists all fled in their canoes. Hard to defend that baloney with a straight face isn't it? Liston should have received an academy award for that rolling on the the floor scene, though. Bravo!
Re: Usyk out
If only there were some helpful context like, I don't know, him having already dominated the living shit out of that same fighter in a previous bout.
Re: Usyk out
That's bad. Usyk has not much time to waste.
