Ali was far from popular in the 60s and no one was doing him any favours back then, they were waiting for him to fall. The Johnson result was {controversial, but do you really believe Ali had any part in that? Or for the editing / removing of YouTube fight footage? Media manipulation happens all the time, but you should point your finger elsewhere.

Of course after the Frazier defeat Ali finally began to be welcomed into America's bosom. With a deal over the Vietnam ban in place Ali was able to go from villain to hero and remained the A side from there on in

With the arrival of Don King the framework for much of what was to follow was soon established. Bob Arum, Al Haymon, Lou DiBella and co all studied the King blueprint and added their own touches.

I know it's a corrupt mess, but now we will have to see what Eddie Hearn/ DAZN can do. At least there's plenty of action coming up!

Please. The Johnson fight, Cooper 1, Doug Jones, and the two Liston farces all took place in the 60s. All highway robberies. Clay patterned his act after Gorgeous George the wrestler. He was another comedy act showboat like George but with a big dose of Black Muslim racism and terroristic gangster tactics thrown in. You're right about him being disliked tho. He pretty much singlehandedly brought an end to sportsmanship in american boxing. Now he's supposed to be some kind of demi-god. Screw that.

Yeah right. After the second farce the newsmedia stationed a man at the exit of the arena. He couldn't find one single customer who thought the fight was legit.
