if thurman fights as he does vs anyone with a pulse the most damage hell do is to manny legs and ankles from having to chase run time
I like Thurman, but Manny still has enough to out gun him. Styles. If Thurman was more a pressure fighter, I'd might give him the nod, but he's not. Manny will dictate the pace and Thurman will wear out.
Thurman fights nothing like Horn, Horn fights in a rugged style using his size. Thurman isn't big for the weight like Horn is. The only reason Thurman boils down is due to not staying in shape between fights like Hatton. Don't be suprised if Thurman runs from Pacquiao the entire fight and loses.SenorPipino wrote: ↑13 May 2019, 14:23 Thurman will be alright. He wouldn't have moved immediately from Lopez to Pacquiao if he didn't feel that his first fight in 2 years stripped away plenty rust.
I don't consider the Lopez fight a near loss. He encountered adversity in the 7th round. He's dealt with it before. Usually from body shots. But he always comes through.
Other than that 1 round, Thurman pretty much dominated Lopez. He didn't sparkle but didn't figure to after his lengthy injury hiatus.
If he's 80%+ the fighter who beat Garcia and Spence, Thurman will push aside Pacquiao.
I still remember how unheralded and green Jeff Horn mauled Pacquiao and busted him up.
Even a slightly diminished Thurman can do the same and much more.
Stylewise, he doesn't match up with Spence. It will look similar to when Freitas fought Corrales with Thurman going out on his shield instead of quitting.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑13 May 2019, 15:01 I think people are underestimating Thurman. Maybe his hunger.
After he beat Garcia, he was considered #1 WW with many outlets. No?
I think people got bored with his inactivity and in his absence Crawford moved up, Spence became champion, Porter has regained a world title. But it’s Crawford and Spence who many have as #1 and #2 in whichever order.
Thurman has better wins than both of them at WW put together. But his inactivity has no doubt hurt him.
It’s funny cuz many are saying Thurman is no match for Spence. Wtf?! Even in Crawford’s case, his team are saying sack Garcia, Porter & Thurman, they ONLY want Spence.
Either people have forgotten how good Thurman can be or people are just bored of him and moved on.
Well i’d like to see it and be the judge. After Porter, Spence’s best route would be the winner of this unless he has a mando.
Thurman is big. He used to be a LMW.IKSRTFO wrote: ↑13 May 2019, 21:50 Thurman fights nothing like Horn, Horn fights in a rugged style using his size. Thurman isn't big for the weight like Horn is. Because he didn't want to make 147, not actually because he's that big. Porter fought at 165 and Hurd didn't. Does that make Porter bigger than Hurd? Thurman just blows up between fights just like Hatton. Hatton walked around heavier than Cotto did but wasn't actually bigger.
when thurman beat Guerrero, i thought he showed he was more than a banger, he can box aswell, i just feel there is a light gone out in him , taking a long time out aswell, i know he was back at the start of the year , just if your champ surely you would want to be fighting as much as possibleRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑13 May 2019, 15:01 I think people are underestimating Thurman. You think Pacquiao is a softer touch than a big fat over-the-hill Josesito Lopez who was never world level even in his prime?SenorPipino wrote: ↑21 May 2019, 20:19 Pacquiao has 1 KO in nearly 10 years and you think he'll stop the bigger, stronger, younger Thurman?
No chance in hell.
Of course Pac-man is better. I'm also not so sure he can swing the ko. Not impossible, but improbable. The poll shows most of the posters favor Thurman to win. I have Pac by decision.
But do you think a Pacquiao who couldn't take out an Algieri, a Rios, or a Horn, has the power to stop a studly Thurman?

You're asking if I think Pacquiao is better than Lopez. My answer is yes.
But you somehow think that qualifies him to knockout Thurman. Hardly.
Josesito Lopez had 1 KO since Victor Ortiz to now and he almost did stop Thurman. Nothing I've seen in Thurman suggest that he's that much stronger than Pacquiao.SenorPipino wrote: ↑21 May 2019, 20:19 Pacquiao has 1 KO in nearly 10 years and you think he'll stop the bigger, stronger, younger Thurman?

After beating Porter and Garcia back to back, he wasn’t overrated. He was rated as THE BEST WW, which was true at the time. The 2 year lay off didn’t help and no one really rates him in top 3-5 WW anymore. He has a lot of making up to do. He isn’t shot for shît.Ricky wrote: ↑21 May 2019, 21:24 You obviously didn't see Thurmans last fight. He was razor close to being stopped by Lopez and looked like a shot fighter. In PACs last 2 he's stopped Matthysse and gave Broner a beating. At this stage, Thurman is worse than Broner, and is one of the most overrated fighters in the last 5 years.
