Re: John Fury Not Happy!

Yep. That’s exactly my take. Fury was clearly beaten and I remember reading after that Fury (by his own admission) hadn’t trained and literally wasn’t fit enough. And honestly, it showed in the fight.ShadrachSimmo wrote: ↑15 Sep 2019, 13:20I thought McDermott won the fight by a few rounds. In no fight did McDermott win five rounds. If you gave him the nod, fair enough, plenty did. But that 'robbery' (the most overused phrase in the sport) was nowhere near as wide as history makes out. I had fury winning the first two and the last two of a ten round fight, with a few middle rounds where it was who's style you liked. McDermotts shots certainly looked the most spectacular no doubt, but five rounds I can't agree on.
I still believe it was simply the cut that altered the whole fight. And to happen to early in the fight it was unfortunate. But that’s boxing and even so, Fury won the fight clean. Fury isn’t a guy that’s stops most opponents, he’s a guy that usually goes the distance. Wallin have a good account for himself. Respect to him. But Fury did what he normally does and that’s get a clear UD win.
Any difference was marginal and to be honest I thought the opposite for what it’s worth. People still get too hung up about athletically about HW’s, do long as he’s got a good engine and is living clean with a balanced S&C programme and a varied cardio routine he’ll be ok. I’m not necessarily saying he has all that (I wouldn’t know) but I wouldn’t get too hung up about a six pack on a 18/19 stone manNondescript wrote: ↑15 Sep 2019, 08:02He looked in better condition for the wilder fight though. He was around the same weight when he fought Wilder.. maybe 2 pound difference. No issue with his weight. And i’m Sure he was lighter against Wlad.
I think it was simply the cut which changed his performance. He still had some dominant rounds.
He weighed heavier against Schwarz. I think Fury is decent anywhere between 250 to 265..
I score it a draw and I’m sure I watched it back once and did likewise. It wasn’t a robbery in the sense it was a very close fight however the scorecard was appallingly badShadrachSimmo wrote: ↑15 Sep 2019, 13:20I thought McDermott won the fight by a few rounds. That's how I scored it, but wouldn't argue with anyone who thought McDermott shaded it. As I said, his shots looked more spectacular. But it was by no means the one sided fight people portray. I watched it after reading the round by round on here and thought 'have I clicked on the wrong fight'. I've always thought that when fighters do find these massive heavyweights, the punches can look more effective than they actually are.fizzjambo wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 01:52I score it a draw and I’m sure I watched it back once and did likewise. Except when Fury fought Klitschko, and his dad was involved in the training, he was 247lb. He was 254lb against Wallin. I don't remember his dad having an issue with his weight then.
Like i said , could be a case of big John feeling his nose has been pushed out ,, But against Klitchko he was'nt a big puncher either . Do have a feeling he, just like Hugh has had it ingrained in him to avoid getting hit at all cost , and spent a lifetime moving and moving , sitting down on big shots just does'nt come natural to them , I think if he went with an American coach they would certainly give it a crack at a bit of weight , correct training for heavy hands , Its hard to hit hard when your moving backwards trying to avoid getting hit , The size of the man he should be hitting a lot harder tyhan he does ,, although i would'nt want to be on the end of one of his digsControversial wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 03:14Except when Fury fought Klitschko, and his dad was involved in the training, he was 247lb. Fury doesn't plant his feet, as you say it's hard to get weight and power into shots when you are moving. That style is his most effective, I think if he tried to stand and trade he would just get himself into trouble. Anyone that size hitting you will hurt but he's never going to be a devastating puncher.coneye wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 03:45Like i said , could be a case of big John feeling his nose has been pushed out ,, But against Klitchko he was'nt a big puncher either . To be fair Tyson was a young pro, he'd only had 7 fights at that stage and went into a British HW title fight against a more experienced McDermott who was 25-5. It was a combination of poor training and lack of experience.Coco wrote: ↑15 Sep 2019, 18:38 I thought Big John won and it showed wFury's true level. Even in the second fight I thought McDermott was ahead.
The reality was that it did Fury good, he really seemed to knuckle down after that, and in no small part that was due to Peter.
Also it showed the way to beat Tyson, gotta stay close and make him work, easier said than done of course.
I’m a bit bored of this narrative now. How is he better for being fat? I can remember when Solis popped his leg against Vitali and everyone pointed out that It wasn’t healthy carrying all that fat on your upper body and that it put pressure on your body training. Tyson’s got tits on his back! He was in much better shape in the past and can get back into that shape, but now he’s not 30 stone anymore everybody seems to be happy. He’s a mess and probably still eats all sorts of shite and boozes.fizzjambo wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 01:49Any difference was marginal and to be honest I thought the opposite for what it’s worth. Tyson has to keep him long and fight at his pace.
A lot will be loose skin now, anyone going upto 30 stone and then losing a load of weight will have that, not a lot you can do about itbripez wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 07:52 18 stone for a bloke who is 6 foot 9 is not heavy.
I don't get how a professional athlete who trains every day, with his height/weight ratio can look so flabby and shite
(yes, I know it is not bodybuilding etc. before anybody says) - but surely his body composition should be better?
Yeah but his physique has always been the sameControversial wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 08:02A lot will be loose skin now, anyone going upto 30 stone and then losing a load of weight will have that, not a lot you can do about itbripez wrote: ↑16 Sep 2019, 07:52 18 stone for a bloke who is 6 foot 9 is not heavy.
