I read a lot.. some of it might not be accurate, but it’s out there.

Oh and Quinlan admitted he got paid £44k for his fight..

Beating Ryder would have got him Mandatory position for Callum Smith - but Ryder accepted weeks ago and they have still not come up with date/money. So looks like Smith v Ryder on 23rd Nov instead.

His name is not just relevant in boxing but as a celebrity as well. He has made the most of his career I would say

If he was more coachable he would've maximized his natural talents. He's a fine fighter, but I always felt he could have been great.

I get that, in fact I think he’ll likely win a version of the world title before he retires (one of the so called top four, not his IBO bauble). The depth at Super Middle is absolutely dire though.

I don’t think he’s hopeless, but he is very limited at top level. His feet are terrible and he doesn’t have the tong intelligence to change up or down mid fight. I don’t rate his ability to judge distance affectively and he’s no where near as good at ducking and rolling as he thinks he is.

He seems to have a decent chin and a good engine, and when he’s composed his shots are generally delivered well (esp his uppercut) but it’s all a bit mechanical.

His legacy is also built on sand. The lads 30 and his best wins are over an ancient Abraham, a DeGale who’d slidden far enough to be taken life and death with Caleb Truax

I don’t think he’s terrible but I’m also shocked when people (not necessarily you mate) talk him up like he’s anything special

CEJ and his dad really did big themselves up for that fight. Sold the fight. Groves was the quiet one in al of it too.

People viewed CEJ stamina as his greatest asset and many would also talk about how Groves fades in the last quarter of a fight. This helped people get behind CEJ.

'Work rate'

I think one of the problems is, he is unable to feature on Sky or BT sport for reasons we all know, plus there is the potentially very lucrative route of heading ITV PPV events. The sticking point is, to sell a Eubank PPV show, they really need to find him a good and marketable dance partner, and apart from them generally being thin on the ground, there is also boxing politics to contend with too. Ryder might have just about cut the mustard even though he's not known to casual fans, but he is now fighting Callum Smith. I am not sure ITV PPV is worthwhile for the channel if they're gonna push Eubank vs a total unknown. Eubank isn't unbeaten, his belt is worthless, and importing unknown no-hopers just adds to the "who cares enough to cough up £20" dilemma for ITV. I think a lot of current problems with Eubank's inactivity stems from his sole viable option being to fight on ITV PPV. Wonder if they'd consider a step down, to prime-time ITV ? Less money but millions more viewers ?

I imagine - it's just a guess - that Fwank and Eddie are not losing sleep over Eubank's inactivity and that they'd actively work against Eubank's efforts to become an ITV PPV attraction. Whilst in front of the cameras promoters will talk about how competition is healthy and brings more money and attention to the sport, I am not quite convinced that is the actual state of mind. Not that I blame them, Eubank's dad would drive anyone crackers in negotiations.

Yeah he was odds on against Groves - who turned out more durable than CEJ expected and too big/strong for Eubank on the night size wise. Groves was a big SMW - where Eubank could easily make Middleweight.

Based on his reputation of not being coachable. His comments in the past that assert that accusation. His underperformance to his natural abilities...his only recent agreement to engage in a proper training camp with a proper trainer. Had he put in the work to really learn his craft, he'd be a great fighter.
