Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?
Eubank turned 30 today and seems to be living that Instagram lifestyle instead of fighting. He is in danger of only fighting once a year in what could turn out to be his peak.
Pretty sure is the dad is ruining his career by not working with FW and Hearn. Eubank Jr could have been a SKY/BT PPV fighter by now. There are a lot of big fights out there for him. Callum smith needs a dance partner like Eubank to be a PPV fighter himself.

Short answer: yes
Forgive my ignorance, I am an old man, what is an Instagram lifestyle?

He’s earned great money for a limited fighter with no trainer.
In one respect yes but in another way he’s done well out of boxing. He clearly doesn’t have much ambition boxing wise does he.

Both Eubank Jr and Smith are wasting their careers, and going by opponents Smith is wasting his more.

I think we can add BJS to that list as well Ian.Old bones Ian wrote: ↑18 Sep 2019, 14:48 Both Eubank Jr and Smith are wasting their careers, and going by opponents Smith is wasting his more.
BJS probably tops the list, as he is a reflex fighter, and that can dissipate overnight as he gets older.
Eubank Jr is a volume guy, with little else in his arsenal. That stamina can fade past 30 too.
Of the 3, Smith probably has the better skill set and natural physical advantages to carry on longer at a high level- but still is wasting his prime.
Re: Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?
All Eubank Jr known is boxing all his life unless he burnt out then he should be wanting to fight to best. I think his dad knows his limits and wants to protect him.
Re: Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?
3 super middleweights who could have fought each other 2 or even 3 times.
Benn, Eubank, Watson and Collins all fought back in their era.

Re: Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?
Given how good he is he’s always overachieved massively and earned a fortune for being a very limited fighter. Aye he’s pissing about on social media all the time but it’s all that nonsense and his old mans name that has earned him the money he has. He’s one decent opponent away from everyone realising just how limited he is again

Don't tell me I'm the only guy in this thread to read each post as though Chris Eubank Snr was reciting it to himself.
Re: Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?
Not really. He wouldn't have ever made it as far as he has if not for being his Father's Son I don't think.
He'll still get some more big fights that he won't win for his name.
He's the U.K's answer to Chavez Jr.

What happened to the Ryder fight?
Re: Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?
We as boxing fans will think it’s a waste but he won’t, I don’t think he has any ambitions to create a great boxing legacy he just wants a great lifestyle which he seems to already have, he’s earned far beyond his talent so fair play.

Re: Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?
Yes wasting it. He had seven fights in 2014 and since then its been two or three until this year when its only one. He's at his physical peak but the money, fame and limelight are a bigger draw it seems.
Re: Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?
Not sure if you mean a boxing career or a hyped up media career ?Glass Joe wrote: ↑18 Sep 2019, 13:52 Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?

he isnt a proper boxer - just following pops for $$$
Re: Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?
Where can he go? What can he do? His best wins are against two shot fighters in Abraham and DeGale and Groves was pretty much on the cusp of being finished but he was still much better than Eubank.
If he wants to continue building his career. He really needs to keep on cherry picking opponents because he's limited.

Re: Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?
He'll presumably try and get a Canelo or GGG fight at some point, get battered by either and then retire. To be fair he's made a good few million no doubt by now so he'll naturally view his career as a success and given his ability it has been.
Re: Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?
Read somewhere , he has made plenty and is set for life , heard he's a millionaire , I don't know but alls i can say is if true , how can a British level fighter earn over a million quid , and anyone can say he's wasted his carreer ,,,
Good on him , and may he earn a few million more .

Re: Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?
Thing is in London or Brighton or wherever he is a million quid will buy you a 3 maybe 4 bed detached house.
Can't see him earning big when it's all over.

Re: Is Chris Eubank Jr wasting his career?
Agree but would add that Smith's biggest advantage is his size. Gets harder to boil down the older you get. He has a shot at achieving big things but his biological clock is ticking.KiwiRider wrote: ↑18 Sep 2019, 14:53I think we can add BJS to that list as well Ian.Old bones Ian wrote: ↑18 Sep 2019, 14:48 Both Eubank Jr and Smith are wasting their careers, and going by opponents Smith is wasting his more.

He received £1.5m against Groves. Would have gotten less than £1m against Yildrim.
According to reports, he and DeGale would have bagged a minimum of £2m each for their fight.
Reports that he was offered £3m against Abraham.
