Will AJ give a third fight to Andy ? I hope Andy as a champion had a strong rematch clause put it in the contract.

F@ck that, they've already fought twice in a row, boring as f@ck for them to do it again now

Wait, a boxer just adapted tactically and fought to his strengths to win a world title?
Quick, call the police!

Ya, though in many cases a fighter is both better and has the better resume, like Canelo over GGG
Yes, it happens quite often even though Canelo vs GGG is a bad example. Prime GGG and even the version from their first fight were clearly better than Canelo.

Tbh Andy is still the BIG WINNER. He made history by becoming the first mexican HW champion. He whooped AJ in the first match. He showed that boxing is more about skills and heart than looking like a greek god sculpture. And most of all is that Andy proved that he's a far more dangerous player in the HW division than Joshua.
Now Joshua is gonna fight ultra defensive and careful knowing that his weaknesses were exposed by a chubby-short handed opponent. AJ's future opponents would salivate.
And couple of years from now, all we’ll remember from those fights will be AJ knocked down and surrender in the corner...

I'm disappointed. If a fighter with such a great physique runs to not get T/KO'd by a chubby fighter with short hands then that's comical. Andy wanted a fight but Joshua just wanted those belts.
When you hit a guy with your Sunday Punch, and he just takes it and keeps coming. It might not be best to stand there, and slug it out with him. Fat or not.

True.
That is what will go down in boxing history.

And avoid clinching!
Every time Andy got close enough in the clinch he was going for that back of the head shot.

Duh, did you spend all day coming up with that blindingly obvious gem?
Because dummies keep talking about resumes when trying to prove that one fighter is better than the other.
I was responding to the fukctatd talking about Wilder needing to earn a shot at AJ.
Completely ignorant comment on the topic.

He has the 2nd best resume of current heavyweights.
Who has the best? Mr AJ
Wilder could have taken a fight with AJ for belts but chose Fury who he thought was washed up ...
Oh and he has been running from Whyte for long enough .

A statement that a major belt holder needs to do something to earn a shot at another belt holder is so utterly ridiculous that it didn't need being disproved using resumes.

A colossal bore. If Ruiz wants another shoot he should beat a fighter or 2 in the top 10.

Thought it was a pathetic display. It was Amir Khan-esque in the sense that was the last time i seen a boxer so terrified of being hit. How often he clinched was telling too, often he fell dangerously into clinches and allowed Ruiz to try to throw short on the inside with spots of success. AJ essentially admitted he can't bang with Andy Ruiz and got on his bike, his offensive success was little more than a few potshotted right hands that never really deterred Ruiz. Ultimately though, that gamepaln still required 12 rounds of discipline I didn't think he had in him - so fair enough. It was also Ruiz job to close the distance, which he was unable to do. I'm not sure being a few stone lighter would've helped him anyway, he's too short really to close the distance against a guy with AJs length, fully on the run.

Or Kovalev-esque ...
Continuing the analogy, Kovalev also got his belt back but was brutally stopped by his next opponent. Fighting like that, AJ will be stopped by a good powerful opponent.

Everyone critical of Joshua's performance, I'm curious. How was Joshua supposed to fight Ruiz and win?
If anything, Ruiz fought poor. Came in out of shape and didn't have a plan B.

Apparently winning isn't important to some. AJ did what he needed to do. Best movement I've ever seen from him. Of course it was against a jabba the hut body, but it still counts.

It's like saying Leonard fought scared in the Duran rematch.

First, congrats to AJ on summoning up the 'right stuff', overcoming the nerves he must have been experiencing and implementing a fairly basic game-plan against Ruiz. However, I doubt whether Wilder or Fury will be losing any sleep. I'm a Brit so don't have any reason to criticise AJ. BUT I did think at the time that the Italian had won the Olympic title, and on re-view see that it was a tie with countback hingeing on the 3rd round, the only one AJ won. As well as having few fights as an amateur, it seems he started out as a body-builder. I've been saying all along that he should forget the weights -- which boxers in the remote past when I was young used very sparingly if at all -- and build up speed and stamina. He's making shedloads of money by being arguably the third best heavyweight in the world -- so good luck to him!

Joshua wouldn't be able to run if Ruiz knew how to cut off the ring.

AJ definately fought cautiously. Leanord fought his fight. They are a bit different. But like I posted, winning is winning.
