‘It’s not women’s boxing, it’s just boxing’.
I don’t mind the odd one but Sky are trying to push it too much now. Wonder how long before we have a women’s PPV headliner.
If a woman’s bout was to headline a PPV, it would have to be a great match up and the undercard would have to be stacked, and not with female fights.
That said, I think we’re some way off a women’s PPV headliner. There’s just nothing out there that would warrant it at the moment.
Yeah - I think we’re still a way off too. It needs a really special fighter to change it. The UFC had it with Ronda Rousey who wasn’t just beating fighters but was demolishing them extremely quickly. She ended up on PPV fairly quickly and headlined shows that had c.1m buys.
Women’s boxing needs more finishes to create more excitement. Moving to 3 minute rounds, particularly for world title fights, would help but they need someone to generate real excitement to take the sport to the next level. Taylor’s a good fighter and i usually enjoy watching her fights but she’s almost certainly going to go the distance. Potentially Caroline Dubois could be the one to change things over here.

Never seen her fight but heard good things. Savannah Marshall would be brutal over 12 3's.
