Depends if that money let’s you sign more and spend more ?

Think Sky have been slow to put up monies to fund better output - Considering the profits they make off Boxing with the PPV compared to most Sports.

Sky are not spending anywhere near the same monies on anything they once did.

There’s news of a new channel launching too. Fightzone TV? 50 events a year! So basically 1 a week. All pro fights, title fights and boxing from all over the Uk. This could be what we’ve wanted. Real raw boxing like it used to be in Friday nights. Interesting to watch ..!

Sign who? Other than Benn, who are the stars outside the Heavyweight division? Zero.

No real interest in who broadcasts tbh. All about the fights for me. And you only need to look at the 1 May and 15 May cards to see where the sport is currently.

We had this not so long ago...when b.nation used to show other promoters cards and not just fw. We had David Price (Maloney) and Carl Frampton (Mcguigan) on b.nation for whatever reason it wasnt sustainable

Bad move. Unless they get football, boxing will be even less well known. And if they get football we will be paying Sky prices!

They probably haven’t come out and said it but they will be going for them.

Where they going to get the boxers with the talent to keep people interested, Myself personaly i watch the BIG fights in the pub ,, the rest i stream , and don,t feel bad about it one little bit , If i was being offered good fights i would subscribe , but at the moment i have sky
but refuse to buy there main event ppv,s ..

The best thing about SKY is it is seamless, one subscription and you get EPL followed by the boxing and all the other stuff they show, even with BT it's the same.

For the casuals it depends whether they want to download the app set up a different subscription which means paying out more a month and just for boxing from Eddie which won't include their two biggest names.

DAZN deal is absolute madness to be honest if the figures are to be believed. It just doesn't stack up

Let's not get too excited about the numbers.

We know how Canelo's big deal turned out, and we know that the 8 year Matchroom contract with DAZN will not end up with $1 billion being spent on it (regardless of pandemics). And we know that PPVs were not eradicated and we know that 4 'monster' US shows per year was Hearn bluster.

As always, we should be more interested firstly in whether more big fights get made. Has DAZN changed that landscape yet - nope, of the two biggest fights in boxing, the GGG Vs Canelo trilogy ain't going to happen and led to a court case, and the Fury V Joshua fight won't be shown on DAZN in the two biggest markets. And of the next tier down, DAZN/Hearn aren't close to delivering the superfights that can be made at Lightweight or Welterweight. Not that anyone else is of course, but just pointing to the literally zero real difference that DAZN have made in the US.

UK Boxing is simply a way for DAZN to make inroads into the streaming market in Europe and hope that their business model can profitably deliver off the back of football, which lets remember costs Sky just under £10,000,000 to show each fixture.

I think Sky off course have the resources to do "a Dazn" if they want to and become a streaming service in addition to the old school TV service. They are utilising more and more of existing "free" streaming for their content now anyway.

So when people say Sky cannot be a global market - I think they can, they aren't exactly short of a bob or two.

I wonder if Eddie made the decision to move onto Dazn with the idea of the European Super League being on there at the forefront of his mind. If that idea had taken off and ended up on Dazn then especially in the UK Dazn would have been firmly established with sports fans. Obviously that whole project went down the swanny this week and I wonder if Eddie made his decision to leave Sky prior. Dazn needs something massive to pull in the general masses.

the whole esl thing seemed a flimsy flash in the pan at best, i'd have to think there was more to his decision than that, dazn obviously has given him loads of cash to work with and that prob helped

Yeh, funny how the news of Matchroom/DAZN came the same time DAZN said they were gonna try getting ESL.

They're gonna still try getting some EPL though, guaranteed.
