Mine was red, but yep one of those little rectangle ones, analogue dial, only had MW and FM on it. Think it was Radio 2 who broadcasted the fight on MW, so being on the train it was a proper dodgy signal, buzzing, whistling etc. Earphone only a single ear one as well, not two earpieces
Nowadays id have been able to watch it via 4g on my phone

Just saw bazza fought Taylor only 3 months after winning the title. Nowadays you could double that before their first defence.

That's a great story blanca listening to McGuigan's fight on the radio
I've some fantastic memories of listening to big fights on the radio....Bruno-Coetzee, McKenzie-Bohol, Bruno-Tyson 1, Hearns-Leonard 2, Andries-Harding 1, Froch-Taylor, Froch-Abraham, Lee-Saunders, Khan-Canelo

McGuigan won the world title on a Saturday night in June 1985 and was back in the gym on the following Monday. Unsurprisingly, he was all used up by the age of 28, when he retired.

Errol Christie had sparring wars all day every day at Kronk for months. He obviously didn’t have the jaw or skull density to prevent cell and nerve damage, because he kept getting knocked out after that and was done.
Chris Eubank saw a dentist (after Christie knocked his tooth out in sparring incidently) who said on x-ray that his jaw was twice the size of the average mans.

Tyson-Bruno 2 in prison on a crappy little radio. To make things worse, the lads below us didn't have a radio so we had to pump the toilet empty, they did theirs, and put the radio at the bottom so both cells could here it. Four young offenders on different landings knelt round an empty toilet listening to the big fight! The toilet trick was quite common if you got on with those above or below you.

As Cog says, the man is a one off. His nostrils must be triple the size of the average man. He could snort an ounce up each in one line.
