Jerry Quarry destroying Jack Bodell at Wembley in 1972 was a bad ass moment. Bodell was coming off a huge win over Joe Bugner to lift British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight titles and was renowned for his difficult southpaw style, but Quarry had seen it all and needed just 64 seconds to blow away his man. A rather stupid reporter asked Quarry if he had found Bodell awkward. "He fell awkwardly," said Jerry.
Talking of Bugner, he gave a bad ass display against Richard Dunn at Wembley in 1976. Both Brits were coming off a defeat to Muhammad Ali for the world heavyweight title but Bugner had boxed to survive (which he did) while Dunn went out there and had a real go (losing in five rounds.) In the days of 15-rounders, you could get 100/1 on Bugner winning in the first round. He won in the first round.
Staying with the heavies (and the quick wins), Gerrie Coetzee was given no chance against former world heavyweight champion Leon Spinks in Monte Carlo in 1979. Coetzee was unbeaten but had never fought outside of South Africa. The big Afrikaner dropped Spinks three times to win in the opening round.
California's Jesse Burnett gave a bad ass performance against John Conteh in a 10-rounder in London in 1979. Conteh was rebuilding after Mate Parlov had outpointed him in a world title encounter but nobody expected the 33-year-old Burnett to trouble the brilliant Scouse. Burnett dropped him twice on the way to a horrible hometown draw.
Sheffield's Herol Graham was bad ass against Jimmy Price to win the British middleweight title in 1985. Graham had moved up from light-middleweight and was punching hard at the new weight. Price had lost just once: on a shocking first-round stoppage to a supposedly finished Ayub Kalule. You just knew that southpaw Graham would try to emulate southpaw Kalule. He pulled it off.
Mike Weaver was defiantly bad ass in his rematch with Mike Dokes in May 1983. Weaver had lasted just 63 seconds in their first meeting but this time he took Dokes all the way and nobody could separate them at the end of 15 bruising rounds. It was the first draw in a world heavyweight title fight in 70 years.
Roberto Duran's ring entrance on the night he faced Marvin Hagler was bad ass. Hagler had destroyed everyone in defence of his world middleweight title but some of them were beaten before they even threw a punch. Duran was unafraid. He coolly acknowledged the crowd and took Hagler all the way.

Whenever this fight come up I always remember that question. I mean it must be one of the strangest boxing questions ever after such a one sided fight. Quarry was actually pretty funny at times, did a good Ali impression though some say he flogged that horse a little too much on live TV.

I think it’s more specific moments than fights/efforts the OP was looking for

Maidana's "hump" of Brooner for me. Broner had done it to him earlier in the fight, but several rounds later, with the roles reversed and Maidana being the boss, his payback was glorious.

Bodell jumped on Quarry like a novice, face first. Quarry taught him a badass lesson.

There were a lot of similar moments in Barerra vs Naz. The obvious one is putting his face in the corner turnbuckle but it was quality the way he ignored Naz holding his hand out to touch gloves after they fouled each other and ended up rolling on the floor.

i imagine he and his boys going mental to 'who let the dogs out' or something along those lines, the highlight being the various canine forms of behaviour and noises they would mimic on the dancefloor, you know, really going for it with the 'whoooo, whooo, whooo-whoooo'. actual dog noises, that kind of thing. all done in a sort of a-rythmnic, autistic type nodding dog cadence. like about 8 black David Brents.

I’ve said it a few times but I think that really hurt Wilder mentally, I don’t think he will ever recover from the fact some one could get back up and put it back on him

And Wilder couldn't have hit him harder.

The first knockdown was a bit of a cuff, but the second was 2 bombs that landed flush.

Also does anyone else get really nostalgic when they see the 80s style graphics and even picture definition? I know today's may be 'better' but for some reason I love the older style stuff. I think it's just the warmth of nostalgia from when I discovered boxing.....

Jackson's body punching in that video is a sight to behold as well - you can hear the impact of those shots. Brutal!

A crying shame I missed the fight live, fox knows why, cos when I watched it for the first time I knew it had happened. You all must have been going batsh1t watching it live, imagine being ring side. I’d have been like Bruno banging on the canvas for Benn McLellan.
