This is if DAZN buys the brand. They could buy the rights BT Sport owns from them but not the brand.
If they did buy the Champions League and Premier League rights, and possibly Rugby's Premiership then they could be on DAZN for next season. In those circumstances BT could close the channels. DAZN doesn't want to run a tv station - they want rights so general public signs up to their streaming service.
DAZN will need BT’s infrastructure & equipment etc. Can you imagine having to watch Premier & Champions league on an internet stream…there will be hell to pay.
I guess I could be wrong about the branding - maybe it will change to DAZN Sports or something. I’m looking forward to seeing how things develope.
DAZN to buy BT Sport.

Re: DAZN to buy BT Sport.
Surely if DAZN buy BT that'll be the end of Frank on there? Eddie will pick up where he is now. Frank's BT contract is probably worth piss all and will evaporate.

Frank has a contract and have you actually seen his stable...are the following fighters not of interest to the public;
Joyce, Fury, Dubois, C Johnson, Arthur, Yarde, Sheeraz, McCann, Z Parker, Tommy Fury (for ratings)
Brad Foster, Chamberlain and an army of youngsters with potential.
If anything, DAZN should be looking to give Warren more financial resources if possible to improve the product and encourage him and Eddie to do business where necessary.

The contract will have various clauses in it and will be weighted in BT’s favour. If BT decide to no longer broadcast sport and DAZN buy the rights they want then Frank will have to go elsewhere.Manchester Hitman wrote: ↑22 Sep 2021, 05:12Frank has a contract and have you actually seen his stable...are the following fighters not of interest to the public;

The bulk of the fighters you list aren’t known by sports fans and out of those fighters you list, how many have been in good, competitive fights this year?
Frank has some good fighters but is rarely making good fights that sell tickets and cross over.
DAZN won’t be interested in getting Frank or his stable as, in their mind, they’ve already catered for boxing fans with Eddie’s shows. Having Frank’s on there will increase their cost base without driving significantly more subscribers as if you’re not subscribing with the Liverpool show or the Whyte card then it’s likely you won’t for Lynn be Jahanzeb.

They would have the following fights amongst other fights easily to be made in house;
AJ v Fury/Joyce and maybe even Dubois 1 day.
Buatsi v Johnson/Yarde/Arthur
Frank hasn’t survived 40 odd years by leaving himself vulnerable with his TV situation.
He will knew exactly what is happening behind closed doors with the possible sale and like I said earlier, he wouldn’t have been in a position to re-sign Joyce if he didn’t have the backing of BT boxing management behind him.
They have also committed to the prospects shows.
Sam Jones would have spoken to Eddie, before sticking with Warren, who 100% would have been interested, so he is also clearly comfortable about Warren’s position.
By your rationale, outside of AJ, Whyte and Benn (due to his dad) the average sports fan wouldn’t know any of Matchrooms fighters either - both statements being ridiculous.
Dubois v Yarde was the highest rated boxing show last year. I think Arthur - Yarde was either 2nd or 3rd.
Having said that, Warren needs to improve the product especially with the London shows and try to make these more commercially attractive.
He seems to be onto a good thing in the Birmingham region with Heaney etc, so it will be interesting to see how that develops.

AJ/Fury won’t be made in house as AJ is still with Sky in the U.K. and I would have thought Tyson has a separate deal with BT on top of his ESPN deal.
You mention those fights with Buatsi but Frank is struggling to make a contracted rematch between 2 of his own guys - not sure how easy he’d find it matching one of them with Buatsi. Johnson will likely continue to be matched with random Europeans that no one has heard of.
Frank won’t have a clue what’s going on in the background. BT are a listed company so why would they tell Frank the status of the sale of part of the company? I’m sure though he’ll have plans for whatever happens. BT will be operating like business as usual although they may be reducing their spend on boxing - they had one show in September (prospect show) and other than the Fury PPV, one show in October (yet to be confirmed whether it’s also on the PPV).
I didn’t say all his fighters are unknown. I said most of the ones you listed are. Zach Parker, Brad Foster, Chamerlain, Sheeraz, McCann, Arthur, Johnson aren’t known at all really. Have any of them ever sold many tickets? More casuals will know Alen Babic.
Assume you mean Dubois/Joyce - that was a great fight which has been a rarity for Frank. Like I said his output this year has been crap. Do you disagree?

All of which could take a significant amount of time, if indeed it does go through. I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I spoke to a geezer who works at a high level in the industry and he was very sceptical of the whole thing, but let’s see.
My point is, DAZN & Eddie himself, will want access to Fury/Joyce/Dubois - there is no conceivable way that they wouldn’t.
Zach Parker, Sheeraz, McCann, Adeleye etc are all potentially very marketable and have the potential
to cross over IMO which is the point. All of them are reasonable ticket sellers already.
If you honestly don’t think Warren is up to speed with what’s going on you must be delusional - he will know the score, that’s his business to do so. Even the secretary’s/PAs, getting banged by the higher ups, will know what’s going on.
Ive been at company’s who are in the middle of a merger/takeover and everybody knew what was happening, one way or another.
When BT sports absorbed allegedly, it’s pretty conceivable that he retained some kind of stake in it as well, so there’s those implications to factor in.
I haven’t really noted whether the output is low - he seems to be averaging about 1 per month. Whilst he has been very unlucky with postponements/ covid cancellations, he needs to increase the quality of undercard opponents in general.
Warren said Arthur - Yarde 2 has been resolved. He already did the first one and as mentioned
Joyce- Dubois, so in-house fights I’m confident wouldn’t be an issue if he is working with Hearn.
Let’s not forget, he wanted to meet with Eddie, until Hearn caught Covid and than he stuck the boot into Dubois after the defeat.

Their long term plan isn’t to have tv channels - it’s to have people watch through the app as they have in every other country where they’re a bigger deal than they are in the U.K. currently.Manchester Hitman wrote: ↑23 Sep 2021, 18:07If they do end up buying, until we know exactly what DAZN are planning to do, its very difficult to speculate how subscribers will be affected. It wouldn’t surprise me if they don’t buy all of BT Sports - just some of the key assets, namely certain TV deals. Whilst we care about the boxing on BT, they may not have even thought about it yet given how much of a small part of the potential deal it might be. They’re interested in the football, potentially the premiership rugby, UFC, maybe WWE.
DAZN would happily show Joyce/Dubois vs Chisora/Whyte but that’s such a minor thing for them at the moment and won’t have any bearing on them buying BT.
At my previous company I worked on the deal to sell the company to a private equity house on 2 occasions (for 9 figures) and in my company before that I worked as part of the M&A team working with companies in the sale process. Staff at these places will know they’re something going on but they won’t know, unless they’re working on the deals themselves (fairly senior positions on the finance teams or in legal) what the finer details are. They’ll likely just know the company is being sold.
Frank isn’t a big player for BT. He’s a supplier of content and responsible for c.4 hours of their output every month. They’re not going to keep him up to date with what’s happening with the deal as things stand because they’ve no need to until things have progressed further.
BT didn’t absorb BN. They just did a deal to include the channel’s output as part of their sport package in exchange for part ownership I think. I’m not sure what the future of the channel is as the original owner (Boxing Channel Media which FW is a director of) is in liquidation.
Agree he needs to improve the quality of the shows as his output this year has been really poor. He’s usually been someone to match his own fighters but has he done one even medium sized fight with 2 of his fighters yet this year? I genuinely can’t remember one. Yarde/Arthur 2 will be decent but if that’s the biggest fight he puts on this year in the U.K. then surely that’s not a good sign.

Any news on this moving along? because Fank/queensberry seem crazy quite on meaningfull shows to end the year and im wondering if it has to do with this. considering everything was waiting for crowds, and we now have crowds you would think it would be go time. not the case.
Plenty of guys that really need another fight this year.
-Joyce probably needs another fight, had one fight (6 rounds) for 2021 so far, needs to stay active.
-DDD needs another fight, Had 2 fights this year but less than 6 mins of ring time, for a young guy he really needs another run out either with someone durable, or in a fight with meaning (trev bryant fight should be priority number 1).
-Yarde has fought 1 meaningless round this year, Needs more and better
-Arthur has only had one fight (although quite a decent levle for him), needs another.
-Tommy fury is a rank prospect so should be fighting monthly.... but i dont know if they can find that many guys bad enough for him to beat.
-callum johnson is lined up for his second knockover job of the year this weekend (i assume, happy to be proven wrong)
-gorman left due to nothing happening
He is getting nothing out of his big names, its got to be concerning. these are all big enough names that you would like to see there fights anounced at least 8-10 weeks out... franks cutting it fine if he wants to get them out in anything but rank tune ups end of year.

It’s really strange. He’s got a couple of good domestic fights this weekend but the show itself has had no promotion - I’ve seen nothing pushing it all.
He’s meant to have a show early November in Birmingham. Tickets are on sale yet there’s not been an announcement for it and no fights are known yet. We’re a month away!
I don’t quite understand what he’s doing. Boxxer have already got more shows lined up and announced.

Reminds me of Warrington at first, big football following and if you can guarantee selling that amount of tickets it doesn't matter how good a boxer you are. Match him with TBA for some inter/pente/interim continental silver or bronze belt and bobs your full housegregregegg wrote: ↑04 Oct 2021, 05:38geezes iv never heard of the guy and franks making that claim. Guy has an area title, and a poor KO percentage.... whos buying his tickets? fuking 32 as well, not like he is the next big deal. am i missing something? was he on love island or did he fuk a spice girl? gotta be somthing.maverick23 wrote: ↑04 Oct 2021, 05:25Frank made the claim that Heaney’s the biggest ticket seller in Britain before his last fight![]()
Will be a long while before he’s fighting anyone with decent aspirations of winning.

Frank didn’t add that caveat though when he made the claim.mickey1975 wrote: ↑04 Oct 2021, 05:40He is if you take out the obvious.maverick23 wrote: ↑04 Oct 2021, 05:25Frank made the claim that Heaney’s the biggest ticket seller in Britain before his last fight![]()

Re: DAZN to buy BT Sport.
BT has the Champions League too.
If DAZN charged £10pm worldwide. I had the EPL, boxing, Champions League, UFC, and maybe nicked a bit of Wrestling. I guess with what the Americans pay, if they wernt greedy, they could
wipe out any competition.
Would be it good value?
How many subs could they get?

Re: DAZN to buy BT Sport.
That would be great value but not sure how sustainable it will be as they’ll need big big volumes of customers to cover the rights fees. Also the premier league/champions league rights will likely only cover the U.K. as there will be different deals in most countries.SAPFO wrote: ↑05 Oct 2021, 08:31 BT has the Champions League too.

BT spend c.£950m/year on 50 odd premier league games. If DAZN had that they’d need 10million subscribers just to cover that cost (at £10pm ex. VAT), let alone production, marketing and any other sports rights fees.
