Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
whyte has a pretty good track record of taking challenging fights, and he was mandatory before wasnt he and still fought good opposition
i'll say yes, he beats wallin without a horrific cut like fury had, then talks up having done a better job than fury, and they fight next
but ffs it should be usyk-fury !

I do wonder how long DAZN is going to last at this rate. From what I understand, the number of subscribers has taken a hammering since the price increase. If they’re already considering introducing PPV, the writing may be on the wall.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 06:24 DAZN trailering the idea they’re going PPV ( game changed ? )
I wonder if it’ll be around PPV superstars Dyl & Del

the unlimited money might not be as unlimited as it first appeared.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 06:24 DAZN trailering the idea they’re going PPV ( game changed ? )

if the budgets just don't add up, instead of rinsing fans, why not go back to the boxers and say, sorry old chaps, but a zero needs to come off the purses. you're multi-millionaires, and if we're not careful we'll go down the swanny. we want PPV to be "special". you're not world champs, and many world champs can't get onto PPV so lets be a bit more realistic.
Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
I think this realistically comes down to Canelo's salary. His purse per fight is probably as much as the rest of all DAZN cards put together for 6+ months. They were hoping he would bring more subscribers, which he may have done, but it doesn't cover the costs. Especially when you need all the other sports aswell.JimJim2009 wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 07:49the unlimited money might not be as unlimited as it first appeared.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 06:24 DAZN trailering the idea they’re going PPV ( game changed ? )

Hearn slipped a little on his latest interview saying Whyte vs Fury would do over a million PPV buys.
It's almost a dead cert that PPV is going to be a thing on top of the normal Dazn subscription fee.

Assuming the bill goes ahead, I've noticed Lucas Browne has been deleted from the babic fight.
Very late in the day but surely anyone is better than Browne?

Dunno. Saunders got 6/7mil vs Canelo. WBC have 55-45 split ratio. Fight will be worth around 25mil I’d say.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 04:08No way 8/9m.. probably not even after PPV if it is.
That’ll probably be Fury’s base purse.
More likely that Whyte fights the vacant belt against a Arreola for far less tho.

Oh, thanks for pointing that out.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 09:13 Hearn slipped a little on his latest interview saying Whyte vs Fury would do over a million PPV buys.

I thought DAZN would end up with low level build up content, and then PPVs on top.
And I'm far from a genius.
I cancelled my subscription due to lack of actual boxing. I knew the model would not work to get the big fights under the monthly subscription and was surprised the Canelo fight was on there without an extra cost.

You called it. Whyte will not risk his mandatory spot.

I bet you the event goes ahead with Chantelle Cameron headlining

This is bad form. Even if they give full refunds people have made plans, spent out on hotels etc.
Was never going ahead.

I predict not - call me Nostradamus, but I've just got a funny feeling about this.

Buying a ticket to a Boxing show in the UK now is risky business. Fights being cancelled left right and centre, issues with refunds and of course in many cases it's the main event gets cancelled.
Ticket sales were poor for this supposedly. With a high prices, it's time the paying fans stop getting conned. It's not right all this shady nonsense.

I think it's a poor show, if Whyte had confidence in his chances against Fury, he'd take the fight, and view it as a chance to hone his skills, as it is, he clearly is just looking for his retirement fund fight with Fury.
Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
Glad I got rid of these tickets. Bought for 90 quid and sold for 70… rather go watching Bolton vs Portsmouth and Bolton are wank.

After all the mouth and giving it large about Fury by him and Eddie, he ducks Otto Wallinjamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑20 Oct 2021, 11:37 I think it's a poor show, if Whyte had confidence in his chances against Fury, he'd take the fight, and view it as a chance to hone his skills, as it is, he clearly is just looking for his retirement fund fight with Fury.
The same Wallin both of them shit on when Fury fought him.
Wallin would have given him a a very hard night and they couldn't afford another slip up. It's a con job let's be honest, seriously doubt there is an injury.
As fans we shouldn't keep putting up with this crap. Ritson Vs Lundy was the same nonsense.
Let's see proof before they try rip off ticket buyers even further.
Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
Why the WBC didn’t actually come out and say the winner of Otto/Whyte would be mandatory is beyond me.
They completely wrote Wallin off and showed him no respect imo.
This fight should be a final eliminator. Whyte got knocked cold out 2 fights ago against a vet.

Re: Will the Whyte/Wallin fight go ahead?
Wallin unfortunately is not ranked in the top 15 by WBC so probably couldn't be in a final eliminator.
Perhaps we could speculate that Wallin may have got the fight because he wasn't ranked by the WBC and couldn't take Whytes mandatory spot
