I’m looking forward to this. I think Ogawa wins but it’ll be interesting to see how the bookies price it. We’ll find out how good Cordina is here.

I don’t mind the co-main (although I don’t particularly rate Barrett) but the rest of the confirmed undercard is poor.

They’ve got Gal Yafai and Dalton Smith on there too but no confirmed opponents as yet which is crazy considering we’re 5 days out.

i love the main, but not too into the ebu fight, think zelfa should win easy and probably boring. kurbanov is a weak euro champ. barely makes boxrec's top 100 and 2 fights ago got dropped by a 1-7 dude. 3 kos in his whole career. lost widely to an actual solid euro champ in ziani. won a vacant title with an at home MD over 10-5 italian not even in the top 100.

he does have an md loss to cordina, but read that thread back, everyone was like 'wtf?' that it was scored so close, he was beaten handily

Whilst I didn’t think the Cordina fight was as close as the judges, I thought it was a really competitive fight. I haven’t seen him since though but I also don’t rate Barrett too much hence thinking this may be close.

Not even getting one UK show a month now on DAZN, if you pay a month for this that's all you get. It's become rank bad value , I'd love to know how many subscribers they have

You’re getting at least one U.K. show a month. I was hoping there would be more than what they’re delivering in the U.K. (I’d be happy with a show every 3 weeks) but there overseas content has been strong in the last 6 months and I think good value for boxing fans. For casuals though who don’t care about JJ Metcalf/Lejarraga or the Super Flys then it’s not.

I agree too. Ogawa is more proven. If I didn’t want Cordina to win then I’d be betting on Ogawa.

But didn’t Ogawa get done for drugs anyway? Fight was NC.

an unknown is how tough joe is, if he can take a shot and bite down when needed, it will help a lot with a strong bruiser like kenichi. fuzile won rounds vs ogawa but just couldnt take his shots. would win 2 minutes of a round and then blow it by getting hurt

This is absolutely bang on. If Cordina ships shots, like he will, then it comes down to what effect they have on him as you’d think he’d be winning rounds otherwise.

I feel Ogawa will hit just a little too hard… maybe not hard enough to stop him but to change rounds that are close.

Barrett v Kourbanov is interesting due to the comparisons that will be made against Cordina.

Kourbanov lost the Cordina fight 6-4 for me but it was close and competitive.

If Barrett wins well and Cordina becomes IBF champion then Barrett is in a good place for a first defence vs Joe.

Yeah - I agree. It’s a good fight and I think it’s closer than the bookies have it.

You can get 5/1 on Kourbanov and 11/1 on the Ogawa/Kourbanov double.

I think the Kourbanov fight is more of a 65/35 in Barrett’s favour but I always think Barrett flatters to deceive.

kourbanov has no power and loses every time he faces a recognizable opponent. he only just squeaked by with a vacant title at home vs a mediocre 10-5 guy. he's barely even in boxrec's top 100. good fight? i just don't see it, he's basically the weakest possible ebu champ there is -- at least he sure won the title in that way

will barrett beat him unanimously like ziani and boschiero did? or will he only win an md like joe did (even though pretty much everyone thought cordina clearly won)? not really an interesting story line for me i have to say

It’s not Cotto v Margarito II but for me it’s interesting if Barrett can beat him well and Cordina becomes IBF champion… mainly because then that’s a natural fight to make.

Kourbanov (I’ve only seen him vs Joe) isn’t that bad. I tend not to look at Boxrec records too much to judge as they can be misleading.

You are right. He has no power but he caught Cordina a lot and that fight was close (contrary to what Smith and Macklin were saying on comms). He hit any harder then he probably beats Cordina that night.

Don’t get me wrong. I’ll not be wanking during the ringwalks but come on… it’s got a few different interesting angles.

Kourbanov isn’t the best and maybe he is the worst EBU champion of all time but if Zelfa takes him lightly he could pay the price.

It’s not the best fight but it’s better than a 33-1 odds on chief support.

I think Joe will get it done via decision but expecting him to have some very testing moments throughout - should be a real marker to see where he's at in terms of the world scene, much needed step up for him too.

We (down under) miss out on heaps of DAZN boxing content. When I joined there were whole months with only one show available for us, and yet there were 2 or 3 UK or European shows that month.
I emailed them about it and their response was that the Australaisan content was tailored to "the market".
It's bloody boxing- a global sport. And they didn't have any down under shows for "the market" whatever that even means.
So I told them to shove it, and my appreciation for the sport has dropped not being able to watch a lot of the big fights live, having now to wait a few days for youtube release.
And we wonder why the sport is in trouble.

Not sure he will be winning rounds. Ogawa has a kind of style that tends to create low volume fights because he is good at fast straight shots and always looking to set them up. What I dislike about Ogawa is the lack of volume from him. He's not setting a clear distinction between him and his opponent. If Cordina also takes that approach and ends up not doing much himself then it could easily be Cordinas fight on the cards. I think Ogawa is the better fighter and he has proven that he is a solid guy. Cordina could be the one getting outclassed. Ogawa will keep the position and distance he likes and set up his shots and try to work off Cordina. It will depend how good Cordina is because I've seen his defence be a bit leaky and seen him putting pressure on and looking like he can be outboxed. This is a new level of skill he is facing now in a guy who is always controlling and managing distance in Ogawa.
