It's a huge fight, and you don't have it without him. He's an equal partner in the rivalry. He's the only one of the two to have plainly outfought the other in one of their previous fights.

True, GGG gave fists to Canelo and Canelo knows that. Also from 160 to 168 there is no better opponent than GGG to generate big numbers.

he was probably a lot more vulnerable at 147 too. He must have been murdering himself to make weight.
Yeah that might've played a factor too. He was still developing that full man strength.
Think about it though. Canelo is now like what? 31 or 32? Something like that. So we're talking about well over a decade since he's been noticeably hurt. That's pretty impressive.
I thought he looked visibly hurt in Round 11 of the GGG rematch - certainly more hurt than I've seen him in any other fight in recent years.
I've seen the fight twice, and I never saw him hurt.

It's not a huge fight. The huge fight at 168 for Canelo is Benavidez or Charlo. Everyone knows GGG is old, but you can replace him with Eubank Jr., and it'd probably sell just as well or better. GGG has never been a major draw.
GGG/Canelo was a huge fight at 160, but this is a fight past it's sell by date. Again, they're overpaying GGG for this fight.

All Canelo fights are huge fights, but, unless Mayweather fancies a rematch (pure fantasy unless Floyd is using dollar bills for fuel of course) this is probably the biggest one left for our boy.
It's also quite clear that Canelo didn't want any of their 2 previous fights either, but this is prizefighting and this is the biggest prizefight left for either of them.
Canelo was clearly caught between a rock and a hard place. It was either this or the Bivol rematch and this one does better numbers.
Not to worry too much Saul old boy, you'll be suffering a few brusies afterwards but you've still got that 4 round Vegas start that you had the last time.

objectively canelo lost both fights with golovkin.
shamefully his record states otherwise.
corrupt to the core judges got him the rematch where golovkin then was fucked a second time and again denied the hard earned W.
he deserves every fvckin dollar they pay him and then some.

Thats true. Why not cash in this trilogy? G is coming after a good title win in Japan and Canelo after a big loss vs Bivol. Meanwhile fighters like Benavidez, Charlo, Munguia, Eubank Jr and Andrade were doing nothing notable to deserve a fight with Canelo.

Yup, not to mention that period of time back in 2012-2016 when champions like Sturm, Quillin, Martinez, Cotto and Canelo were avoiding like plague GGG.
