ive seen even some hardcore fans who suddenly think it's only a low blow if you uppercut the guy in the bottom of his balls

another usyk fight where the reaction is just weird.

people also complaining that it was stopped early, saying dubs did better than aj did in the rematch- despite winning fewer rounds, getting dropped, and stopped, etc.

Some people will cherry pick facts to try and make it suit the narrative that they want to convince themself that they're smart or have the correct allegiances. I think you'd struggle to find anyone who didn't want Dubois to do better than AJ who now thinks that he did.

1. it wasnt - just look at it, clearly hit below the belt
2. if the ref had started counting usyk may have reacted differently

Tbf it's not just fans claiming it was a legit knockdown, a lot of fighters as well, I've changed my mind I think it's low but it goes to show it's not just fans who don't understand the rules clearly even ex and current pros

the phrase 'below the belt' comes specifically from the idea that hitting someone below the belt line is illegal, tbh i just assumed most people knew that hitting below the belt is a foul. i have heard refs say that if someone has high trunks it's legal to hit them on the belt, but never have i heard a referee say that hitting below that is okay

fair enough if people thought it was clean in real time, it can be hard to tell that quick and the angle was poor. but i dont know how people can look at the photos or watch replays from a clear angle and still maintain that dubois' glove does not connect below the belt

I don't think it was low but DDD lost credibility after collapsing from a jab to a non puncher

It was on the belt not below it, the law is there to stop you getting hit in the nuts

But well above his nuts.

If the ref thought it was low he should have taken points off

as you said, below the belt is illegal. since when is the rule that it has to hit the guy in the nuts to be low?

that shot, which is from a bad angle anyway (no surprise lol) is just the glove coming up

here you can see it make contact well below the belt line, land and then move up. boxing kingdom's photo is late in the sequence after the shot's already connected

reminds me of when jesse vargas was 'robbed' of a ko of tim bradley when he slightly buzzed him late in their fight and the bell rung about 10 seconds early

I’m sure if the tables were turned Dubois and his team would say it was low. The BBBoC rule book says that “you are not permitted to hit below the belt” and “the belt is defined an an imaginary line drawn across the body from the top of the hip bones”

right, you dont need a blast to the bottom of the nuts for it to be low.

top of the hips are well away from the ol yellers

The top of Usyks shorts were at the level of his elbow which is fine.

Compare this to how high Fury wears his shorts when fighting, where his elbow will be typically well below the waist band. Yet photos of Fury wearing shorts outside of the ring his elbow is well above waist band indicating the high shorts as intentional.
