a very fair assessment imo. I do hope he boxes on though.

Is it possible that young Hatton is only boxing to win his dad's affection? There are lots of sports stars who have kids that follow their dad's but never seem to flourish, not just in boxing.

Are kids doing it because they have been forced fed the sport growing up?

I know many are saying Campbell Hatton has reached his limit here and to be honest I agree.

He has so many technical holes in his game. I know he's only 23 and had a very limited amateur career but he still looks so raw to me with his very wide punches and poor punch selection.

He's in big trouble when he faces someone who can punch. Don't mind he proves me wrong, improves and fights for a British title but for me that would take a hell of lot of improvements.

Seems like a fit lad and takes training seriously. Maybe a change of trainer and a back to the drawing board type of approach might help. Get back to basics. I wish him well.

I think it's just a case of an skewed state of privilege and ignorance.
Being the son of a very famous and respected boxer has no doubt seen him growing up receiving some of that by association too.
He has had a very protected boxing career this far, and been able to live something like his dad's fame too .. but where as Eubank Jr and Conor Benn have been decent in their own right - Campbell is simply not that good. Without his famous dad he'd be another journeyman just picking up paydays to survive 4-6rnders against the kids who are good enough to achieve things.

Yes he is only young - but his defence is so bad he'd be walking on his heels by time he is thirty if he carries on. His dad did the sacrifices so his kids don't have to.

If you give someone all the advantages of gym, trainers, nutrition advice, coaching, management, and promotion - and they can't beat a guy paying his own gym fees and holding down a full-time job - then it's not for you.

There is no good reason for him to continue professional boxing. I would understand if he wanted to be an amateur, but this is different

would we advise every guy campbell's level or below to quit?

i could see him winning an area title one day........if he's keeping himself fit and has a desire for it, go for it. probably a good learning experience. first time doing 10, was clearly beaten but it was competitive. still in his early 20s and has time to improve still.

For the majority of fighters winning an area title would be a dream, we shouldnt judge every fighter in whether they are world class or not.

I guess Campbell has already earned big bucks, he probably doesn't need to continue, but if he enjoys it and winning a minor title means something then why not?

If he has delusions of grandeur it is another thing

The problem is, with more bouts will come improvement but he will take a lot of punishment doing so. He is nothing more than a novice prospect but if he carries on taking a beating because of the size of his balls then he will end up blowing bubbles and feeding through a tommy tippee cup. No one wants to see that in boxing, he is a nice young man.

If the best he can aspire to is an area belt but in doing so its potentially detrimental to his health then he needs to get out of the game. Between himself, his Dad and uncle matthew, then can run a fab gym and bring on other fighters.

Who, outside of his family, wants to watch him beating up on clearly hand picked opponents just to build a Buck Smith like boxing record?

He wasn't ready to turn over when he did, that pro debut was a shocker and although they have matched him well to coincide with his development. He's not really upto it. Don't forget he had that gift against Martinez who came in at a few days notice.

It's a hard game and it's clear to see that he' been grafting in the gym, but there looks to be a lot of defensive flaws that need ironing out to get up amongst British title level let alone higher.

I wish him well, he seems a good lad and has the desire, so let's see.

Yeah not Campbell's fault but that Martinez decision was so ludicrous and blatantly corrupt that it really turned a lot of people against him.

I would advise every guy at his level with a face-first defence who's trying to win fights to quit pro boxing, yes. The only thing separating him from Robin Deakin is connections and matchmaking

I think it went un noticed that he got hurt to the body a fair bit against Flint later on in the fight. Flint was able to get in behind his elbows. Hatton's face was completely unmarked but I think he was getting hurt downstairs.

I think seeing Campbell in the ring is the last thing that Ricky wanted for his son. He gave and took all that stick himself during his career, to give his family a good life which he did.

Even from his debut, you could see the discomfort in his face when the camera kept panning to him. I'm pretty certain he knows his son is not upto it, and maybe they have even had that conversation.

Anyway, Campbell is a nice kid and I wish him well. I hope he doesn't box on much longer though, assuming he continues.

Certainly is not Campbell fault but a rematch (even after a couple more learning fights)would have something he could have demanded.

I have a lot of respect for any fighter who gets into the ring. Hatton Jr showed guts in defeat but doesn´t seem to have the defence or power to make it.

I said the same thing about his uncle and he went on to make become EBU champ and fight Canelo Alvarez!

Would he have been better staying amateur? He had a bit of success there didn't he?
