margaret thatcher wrote: 23 Feb 2025, 12:46 the fight with ajaba was still 3 months off - i doubt bakole was even in any serious training yet, hence the career high weight. and he wasnt even in saudi to weigh in with parker and was on a plane 4 hours flight away the day before, after flying 10+ hours not long before that

at the end of the fight he was all smiles and looking giddy to pose for photos

i think he got a nice fat payday and was just happy to be there, knowing full well that he was far from prepared
Fat being the operative word. :D

No doubt he will test positive for cookie dough.

His trainer said he'd been in the gym for 8 weeks, but unless he was in the back office doing the accounts, there was no way he was in the gym.

His trainer sold him down the river for a pay cheque, against arguably the best heavyweight in the world that doesn't hold a title.

Bakole had never fought anyone as good as Parker when supposedly fully fit, so why would they enter into a contest of that magnitude with little or no preparation?

Moolah, that's why. It's prizefighting. One good win and Marty is right back in the mix as always. Why not do what he did.

Wtf hit him? It looked like he missed
It hit his temple over his right eye. Usually not the spot you see a right hand land on somebody, but Bakole was in the process of throwing and missing his own punch.

Yes, fair point which I understand entirely, but I'm looking at it from the POV of his health and career.

Bakole had literally got off his sofa to take this fight and was in no way prepared for a contest of this magnitude.

I could understand more if he was a journeyman happy to pick up paydays to feed his family, but he's at best, a top 10 guy.

Ultimately it's his health and career and if he's happy with it, then fair play to him.

Parker put him away in less than two rounds. If Bakole had done better I’d say maybe. He didn’t though.

There’ are four levels to the Heavy rankings

1- Usyk
2- Agit, DDD, Parker
3 AJ and Fury winner.
4- everyone else.
Should AJ and Fury not meet they are also here.
It's a pretty good assessment, I rarely agree with people on new heavyweights but There's not really much to debate here with your take. :box:

I am just watch the Bakole vs Hunter fight today & damn Bakole looked like he aged a decade. He needs some serious training to ever get in the "Hunter" Shape again. His peak may have passed

I seem to be in the minority but I think yes. He was already bothering Parker with pressure in the 2nd round but coming in that heavy and without a full camp his defense was always going to be poor in that condition.

Also a hit high on the head like that can mess ANYONE up. If you haven't boxed you don't know.

I don't think he was in there long enough really to say what might have happened if he'd managed to stick around longer.

You did get to see the quicker footwork of Parker hitting the voluminous Bakole mid section then moving away and letting Bakole hit thin air, I don't think a training camp bridges that gap.

The annual "I beat the champ up in sparring" from Bakole's team. Weird that he doesn't show up in big fights against lesser opponents than the ones he supposedly battered in training though.
