Is anyone 1 fight away from being in that conversation? Not really. Mabey shakure if he dominates Lopez to become a 4 Div champ. And even then that’s a stretch.

I don’t think anyone else is 1 fight away. (Not one realistic fight away).

Shakur will crash the Top 5 if he beats Teofimo, I don't think he'd jump up to 1 no matter what he did in that fight.

Most of those guys already have the good/great wins, they just need the truly special wins. I said they're one or two big fights away because it would need to be a big fight. Why would that big fight be against someone that isn't rated highly and be enough to get them into the top 5 p4p?

Those guys will already be on the fringes with the right fights. Andy Cruz has a fight with Muratalla, if he faces someone better than that in his fight after (should he win) then that would be two big wins. Boots and Ortiz have had some good wins but if one of them beats the other with another decent opponent aswell then they would be worthy. Haney has already beaten Lomachenko and Norman so another top win would be enough. Rodriguez has a few good wins and is comfortably top of his division so if he faces one or two other top names around his weight then it would also be enough.

It's not going to cement them in the top 5 p4p forever, their records will just be the most proven at that time. With Crawford gone and with the likes of Usyk, Bivol and Beterbiev on the wrong side of 35 (and even 40) they could retire at any time they like in the next year or two and I would put money on some of the names I've mentioned being the guys to step into their places with the right wins as they have the ability to get those wins.

Could be said that due to Usyk's size skill and ability, he reopened the Heavyweight scene back open to the 220-240 pound fighters again, which will make it more competitive long term.
