This fight was broadcast LIVE to 20 television stations across the USA.
yet another '10 to 1" challenger for the title.
(anyone know who had fought on the preliminary ?, if anyone)

BTW This may have been the only fight(pro or amateur)
where Joe Frazier actually had the "reach advantage- 73.5" to 71.5" inches.

I don't think anybody really thought he could beat Larry, but I doubt many would've been predicted a 1st round demolition job. Larry wasn't really known for that sorta thing. It just be that way sometimes. That's what makes Boxing what it is. Anything can happen on any given night.

This challenger (almost) had to have been brought INTO the ring on a stretcher to fight !
(another "10 to 1".

Larry Holmes said that he was in the prime of his life and didn't want to hurt nobody. This was probably the worst mismatch that I have ever seen in boxing. Worse than his title defense against Muhammad Ali three years earlier.

Holmes was past his prime by the time he fought Frazier.
Frazier was not that bad. He had some boxing skills. However, he didn't have a great chin and didn't have much power. He actually beat a couple of decent opponents.
Always thought if they fought a gain that Frazier could have lasted a few rounds.

I'm not sure he needs the "CONGRAGULATIONS". It's not like proving you wrong is a massive accomplishment, almost anyone can do it.

He definitely couldn't have done much worse in a rematch
