How so? Triple lock being replaced with a double lock isn't going to plunge any pensioners in to poverty.Coco wrote: ↑30 Sep 2026, 04:16Then houses would be bought up by international corporations, and rents would go up further.Lenny Cravats wrote: ↑30 Sep 2026, 01:59Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑29 Sep 2026, 12:03 Triple lock should go, millions of boomers living in houses mortgage free having 10 holidays a year whilst kids are spending half thier wages on rent on other houses owned by the boomers.![]()
Yeah let's go after the pensioners getting 12k a year, that's just unaffordable.Lenny Cravats wrote: ↑30 Sep 2026, 13:13How so? Triple lock being replaced with a double lock isn't going to plunge any pensioners in to poverty.

It's pensioners, single mums and the disabled rinsing this country dry
Point is, loads of pensioners are extremely well-off, their benefits should be means-tested like anyone else’s. I don’t come from a particularly well off background, but my parents and nearly all of my mate’s parents don’t even need the state pension, they’re mortgage free and saved more than enough in their working lives.Coco wrote: ↑30 Sep 2026, 18:07Yeah let's go after the pensioners getting 12k a year, that's just unaffordable.Lenny Cravats wrote: ↑30 Sep 2026, 13:13How so? So you would penalise folk for buying a house and saving?Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 03:56Point is, loads of pensioners are extremely well-off, their benefits should be means-tested like anyone else’s. I wouldn’t say it’s penalising them at all, they still have a far far better life than someone relying on the state pension, and often spend a lot of time abroad in one of their holiday homes and are getting additional income from their UK rental property (also both mortgage free).Coco wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 04:58So you would penalise folk for buying a house and saving?Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 03:56Point is, loads of pensioners are extremely well-off, their benefits should be means-tested like anyone else’s. I guess pensioners are the low hanging fruit
Exactly make it means tested, my inlaw was suling about it, she goes abroad every six weeks!Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 05:08I wouldn’t say it’s penalising them at all, they still have a far far better life than someone relying on the state pension, and often spend a lot of time abroad in one of their holiday homes and are getting additional income from their UK rental property (also both mortgage free).Coco wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 04:58So you would penalise folk for buying a house and saving?Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 03:56

Why are we giving benefits to people who clearly don’t need them? Should we start giving job seekers allowance to people on £60k salary per year?

So to summarise:
You don't like politicians who lie.
You don't like politicians who perform u-turns on what they've previously promised.
You don't like politicians who are sexual predators.
You believe that if there's enough evidence and dirt on a politician then that's as good as being guilty.
Glad to see you hold such high standards for which politicians you support and you're not just one of those cultists.![]()

It's not going after them if the pension increases with inflation or 2.5%, (whichever is higher) is it? The triple lock was only put in place 16 years ago, and it was always up for debate.Coco wrote: ↑30 Sep 2026, 18:07Yeah let's go after the pensioners getting 12k a year, that's just unaffordable.Lenny Cravats wrote: ↑30 Sep 2026, 13:13How so? It's not a benefit, benefits are for folk who have never worked, they have already paid into the systemBoxerbeetle wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 05:08I wouldn’t say it’s penalising them at all, they still have a far far better life than someone relying on the state pension, and often spend a lot of time abroad in one of their holiday homes and are getting additional income from their UK rental property (also both mortgage free).Coco wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 04:58So you would penalise folk for buying a house and saving?Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑01 Oct 2026, 03:56
