Thank god you're not a promoter mate, If I was a fighter, and you turned down Corralles to take on Witter on my behalf, I'd fire your arse.rook wrote:WHY OH WHY CAN'T THIS FIGHT HAPPEN!!!
After Hatton dismantling Zoo there's no chance of this going ahead anytime soon.
Just think what this fight could do for British Boxing! Bang, stick it on ITV , build it up (as if it needs any) and you've got a captive audience again! Hell forget the Zab business the Yanks would lap this up no problem!
Some of you guys who know sh*t-loads more than me are clamouring for Ricky to take on a tune up fight or 2 before Corrales (a Lightweight! although a very good one at that).. That's a case of Frankalledgitis if ever I saw one!
Ok so people have been arguing Witter doesn't deserve his shot.. and yeah, no, maybe he doesn't.
But I don't see how Ricky deserved his shot at Zoo above the like of Gatti, Harris, Cotto etc!! AND SO FU*KING WHAT!! Jr's got knockout power and it makes for an exciting fight - more so than Corrales for me!![]()
The only difference is that Corrales brings cash to the table and gives Ricky more stateside exposure.. but now we are back in the big-time (referring to British Boxing) why can't we demand this bad boy!!
I suppose the point of this thread is to ask why can't we demand this fight instead? We are the paying public, they won't be any shortage of buyers - especially now..
Ricky V Junior.. just imagine..
I know. One of the headliners is now trying his hand at acting.stujones wrote:I know.
Another clue - The undercard featured a P4P canditate.

Chico isn't a natural LW, and he is very vulnerable, he was decked twice by Castillo, and twice by Casamayor who isn't even a puncher and was a smaller guy.lvlarc_uk wrote:I'm sorry but i'd have to slightly favour Corrales over Hatton, Chico is the better boxer and if this fight did happen he wouldn't let Hatton smother him like he did with zoo. He would be much more active.
I'd definetly prefer to see Hatton v Corrales within the next year than any other top 10 ranked.
To be honest mate I don't think he'd have a whole lot of choice in it.lvlarc_uk wrote:he wouldn't let Hatton smother him like he did with zoo

Corralles has just been involved in a fight with Castillo, which many of the writers at ringside described as the best fight they have ever seen, and you think that a Witter fight would be more exciting, to who exactly?
Hatton v Corralles would be a GLOBAL PPV extravaganza, both guys would make a killing, and they could probably put it on in the states and get in excess of 30,000 in attendance, maybe even 40,000 if they find the right venue.
Unfortunately the commercial reality is and has always been that Witter does not present a financially palatable opponent for Hatton given the risk potential associated with the fight. Witter must find his own way to the top, and once he is there and looking impressive then people like Showtime will provide the cash to make a fight with Hatton happen. Of course should Hatton lose his way and Witter reach the top then one day maybe Ricky will need the fight more than Junior, but as things stand even if Witter remains the next best light-welter in Britain for the rest of time this will not make the fight happen. Junior must make his own way to the top, which is what he seems settled on doing right now.rook wrote:...but I want to see Witter fight him more - it should've happened 3-4 years ago and it looks like it's still another 3-4 years away
It's not even that big a fight domestically though, very few people are even aware who witter is over here.rook wrote:jamesmcdonnell wrote:Thank god you're not a promoter mate, If I was a fighter, and you turned down Corralles to take on Witter on my behalf, I'd fire your arse.rook wrote:WHY OH WHY CAN'T THIS FIGHT HAPPEN!!!

Goes without saying, I was talking purely from a UK boxing fans point of view.. not how to line my own pockets if I was FW![]()
It's disappointing that the biggest UK fight for the last 10 years is even further away than ever! Sure, I wouldn't turn my nose up at seeing Corrales in with Hatton, but I want to see Witter fight him more - it should've happened 3-4 years ago and it looks like it's still another 3-4 years away

Right - and, excuse my french, fornicate Witter... he doesn't deserve teh chance to make the money and the shot at the title that a Hatton fight brings...jamesmcdonnell wrote:

Heh heh, I'd forgotten about that. Actually Witter and the Ingle camp did start to tone it right down when they realised the public weren't taking kindly to Junior's berating of Hatton at every opportunity. As I've said before Witter needs to let his fists do the talking. He has the same problem Chris Byrd had, no-one wanted to fight him and he generated very little fan base. Answer? Same as Chris Byrd, fight the other guys that nobody wants and beat them, thereby forcing yourself into the title picture.E wrote:Witter has always been so disrespectful and rude to Ricky - I remember after the Thaxton fight, 12 hard rounds of boxing, and Ingle and Witter are going 'Junior will knock you out, I guarantee etc...'.. wankers. this has to be one of the mosat ignorant posts ive ever read.split_decision wrote:This is a perfect fight for Ricky. He's a big name fighter, it's big money and big exposure worldwide, and Zero Risk. The world is Ricky and Franks oyster now. Imagine Hatton vs Morales, Barrera, Vasquez, Chi, Pac, Larios or Arce. Mouthwatering.
Surely, in the words of brent "that was the joke there"??????J wrote:this has to be one of the mosat ignorant posts ive ever read.split_decision wrote:This is a perfect fight for Ricky. every man you mention is at least 2 divisions below hatton.
larios is a super bantam weight for crying out loud?
arce is a fornicating flyweight?
unbelievable.
as for witter, he brings nothing to the table and i agree he has made too much noise bad mouthing hatton for years now., get on with your own and then if you have a belt lets talk. Hatton has probed himself to be world class witter hasnt and until he does all this calling out smacks of bitterness..
i wish junior success but he should worry about what he is doing in the ring, forget about hatton for now and see what happens.
totally agreed mate. Its hattons time now, I hope he goes on to unify the titles. Warren delivered, and now must continue to deliver.J wrote:aaargh could be i did think it was strange, however i do think the sarcasm is unfounded.
Warren got hatton the fight and hatton did the business they both deserve credit. especially ricky.
hatton has just gone in with the linear champ and given him a kicking theres no need to refer back to the days when a fair few were slating Ricky for being protected and fighting against lightweights.
maybe that argument did hold water for whatever reasons but it doesnt now.
either way its a stupid post. Joke or not.
