The only difference is that Corrales brings cash to the table and gives Ricky more stateside exposure.. but now we are back in the big-time (referring to British Boxing) why can't we demand this bad boy!!
I suppose the point of this thread is to ask why can't we demand this fight instead? We are the paying public, they won't be any shortage of buyers - especially now..

Corrales - Castillo just got ordered into a rematch by the WBC, who are evidently shit scared of losing such a bankable star to the lure of an IBF challenge at a higher weight. I think the whole thing sucks, a purely mercenary decision to put two very brave guys through hell again just to maximise profits, but there you go.
Nelson on TV last night said Hatton would walk through Corrales. I disagree, but he has to be favourite in this one. McCrory's suggestion that he'll take an easier fight first made a lot of sense, though...

I'd definetly prefer to see Hatton v Corrales within the next year than any other top 10 ranked.
Chico isn't a natural LW, and he is very vulnerable, he was decked twice by Castillo, and twice by Casamayor who isn't even a puncher and was a smaller guy.

To be honest mate I don't think he'd have a whole lot of choice in it.
Corrales would lose very attractively though. Perfect for Hatton's first stab at the terrestrial audience.

It's disappointing that the biggest UK fight for the last 10 years is even further away than ever! Sure, I wouldn't turn my nose up at seeing Corrales in with Hatton, but I want to see Witter fight him more - it should've happened 3-4 years ago and it looks like it's still another 3-4 years away

Unfortunately the commercial reality is and has always been that Witter does not present a financially palatable opponent for Hatton given the risk potential associated with the fight. Witter must find his own way to the top, and once he is there and looking impressive then people like Showtime will provide the cash to make a fight with Hatton happen. Of course should Hatton lose his way and Witter reach the top then one day maybe Ricky will need the fight more than Junior, but as things stand even if Witter remains the next best light-welter in Britain for the rest of time this will not make the fight happen. Junior must make his own way to the top, which is what he seems settled on doing right now.

It's not even that big a fight domestically though, very few people are even aware who witter is over here.

It's true, the fight is only big among the 'anorak' brigade.
Ask the man in the street who Junior Witter is, and they woudn't have a clue. Unfortunately for Witter he also hasn't helped his cause, by first avoiding Pinto, and then moving away from the SN camp.

Witter has always been so disrespectful and rude to Ricky - I remember after the Thaxton fight, 12 hard rounds of boxing, and Ingle and Witter are going 'Junior will knock you out, I guarantee etc...'.. wankers. There is a time and a place and straight after a bruising fight is not the time.
Ricky has been nothing but respectful throughout his career and is the best thing to happen to British boxing in 10 years.
Witter does not deserve to make money from the bandwagon - WItter sells no tickets either....he's not bringing anything to the table.
An interesting fight, sure, but not one that Witter deserves...

Heh heh, I'd forgotten about that. Actually Witter and the Ingle camp did start to tone it right down when they realised the public weren't taking kindly to Junior's berating of Hatton at every opportunity. As I've said before Witter needs to let his fists do the talking. He has the same problem Chris Byrd had, no-one wanted to fight him and he generated very little fan base. Answer? Same as Chris Byrd, fight the other guys that nobody wants and beat them, thereby forcing yourself into the title picture.

aaargh could be i did think it was strange, however i do think the sarcasm is unfounded.
Warren got hatton the fight and hatton did the business they both deserve credit. especially ricky.
hatton has just gone in with the linear champ and given him a kicking theres no need to refer back to the days when a fair few were slating Ricky for being protected and fighting against lightweights.
maybe that argument did hold water for whatever reasons but it doesnt now.
either way its a stupid post. Joke or not.

What about being a viable domestic contender to Hatton. Junior Witter is a man who seriously puts Ricky's status as Britain's number 1 Light-welterweight at risk - so much so that Ricky has already publicly side-stepped the fight.
It is simply not right that a fighter can claim to be the World's best without having first cleaned up his own backyard.
