Of course, if you're talking about betting odds and hype of the moment, nothing was a bigger upset that the Douglas fight, but those odds where just plain stupid.
...Damn!...why didn't you tell us back then?...
...actually, I did ask a bookie friend of mine about that fight at the time...he said no line...wouldn't take the action on 'mismatches' like that...
Interesting --sounds like your friend's a smart bookie

Barry McGuigan vs Steve Cruz!
That's a good one! Though, I think the Vegas heat had a little something to do with Barry waning in the late rounds.

...sweetscience guy...newspapers of the time had the odds on the first louis/schemling fight as 10 to one against max. one paper said the heaviest betting was on whether schmeling would go past the 5th round....and the oddsmakers leaned toward his not doing so.
don't have the odds on louis/walcott one...and can't find them. in my post though i've written how little he was regarded. his going the distance, even though the decison was against him was a big upset in itself.

jaclem im defintely not sure about this one, but i found in one of my books the odds were 15-1 on louis-walcott fight. i will check joe louis biography as well, i think he had the odds of the fight in there.
