Colin Lynes should be protected, he will get battered and added to the long list of Hearn Boxers who have ended up in hospital after his appaling matchmaking. Why do the Board allow this to happen for the British title?
Quite sinply this is a scandal and BH and MH should be ashamed of themselves.

Boxing deserves better.
while i agree with you on this (th match up that is), dont you think its a bit rich calling anyone someone else's bitch when you constantly act like you are a tea boy at SN's head office?

bit unnecessary dont ya think?

Good point Oscar, but come on, does that make it right?

Why doesn't he give it up and let the lesser beings fight for it and fight some of the opponents of the big world names to boost his profile. Fighting Lynes is hardly going to see Mayweather taking note is it?

If Junior is serious, which I sincerely doubt, then he should make his move up a level. My opinion stands, that the only fight little Mick can get him is on a Hearn show and against Hearns own man. Thereofre, he is dancing to Hearns tune AKA being his bitch. MH has made plenty of noise and now cannot progress the likes of Froch and Witter without any TV money. So if you are going to be someones Bitch why Barry Hearn? Why not a US Promoter who will, I expect, at least deliver more than this shite. Moore V Walker is a prime example, decent fight I grant you but Hearn is slowly, one by one, going to take MH's boys from him - mark my words.

Hearn operates at a far higher level than Mickey and will get the TV and the fighters. MH is about to get screwed................!

still champ despite not defending, they gave him belt, disgrace, could have ordered this match months ago, should have been stripped for not defending. :box:

In reality, I'm sure Mick trusts slick Bazza about as far as he can throw him. He's giving Walker another pay day, plus a fair chance at hitting the jackpot if he manages the upset over Moore.
Yes Moore looks a strong favorite, but as we've seen, he's not bulletproof.

And MH is allowing Witter an easypay day teeing off on Lynes for a few rounds - which is typical of Hearn's clueless matchmaking and an area where MH holds a distinct advantage over Bazza.

Froch is his ace in the hole: when he steps Carl up to the next level, Sky will no doubt come calling.

I'm not so sure, Alan Bosworth won an eliminator an age ago, but the BBBoC didn't award him a shot and never really pressed the issue. That Maxwell vs Smilie bout looks very unlikely to happen (for the English title) and no promoter is interested in it (how many times have no purse bids been submitted) but still the BBBoC are trying to organise the match.

Bosworth won the eliminator, and even though the match would have been poor - the BBBoC should have taken it to purse bids - ordered the fight or stripped Witter, without just giving him the belt. If they didn't like the match, then Bosworth shouldn't have been put into an eliminator situation.

What angers me about the situation, and I am now even more angry now than I was at the time is that a matter of a couple of months (if that) since Witter was awarded the lonsdale belt to keep, the BBBoC deem Lynes good enough to fight for the title. Why not order this fight BEFORE giving the belt to keep for Witter. If by any chance Lynes causes a sensation, there will be a lot of red faces at the BBBoC.

MightyWarrior, couldn't have put it better myself (except I have full of respect for Lynnes taking the Witter fight).

Also with Tony Dodson apparently back on Friday, with Hennessy and Hearn doing business then Froch-Dodson will also happen.

Butch I agree, you certainly can't fault Lynnes for giving it a go if he's offered the chance.

And Froch/Dodson is loooong overdue. Tony's posted quite about about how he's up for this one - let's hope no more injuries.

In terms of the dealings between the various promoters, the fact that Hennessy and Hearn are also doing business together it highlights to me just how difficult Warren is to deal with.

Is Lynes really worse than Vilches and Stewart? I don't think he is. Its a keep busy fight. Its no2 versus no3 in Britain. Can't complain too much. None of the champs wants to fight him he has to bide his time.

I dunno if he is worse but i do tend to be harsh on fighters that have gift decisions as Colin has. Im the same with Greame earl. Lyness lost both the televised fights of recent times and somehow got the verdict.

And certinaly the witter fans were quick to have a go about vilches being signed when it was. Whats good for the goose and all that

I was Anti-Earl after the two Vanzie robberies. Especially after the second where he kept changing the date so Vanzie would have weight making problems.

True but you've got to look at what options Witter has. Only unknown fighters want to fight him, he'd surely take a small purse to get a title shot. By beating Ndou and Kotlenik Witters established himself as a top5 fighter and the only guys above him are belt holders who have other things to do.

Witters going to have to pray he gets a shot at Cotto or Mayweather vacates. Because Mayweather will want a big fight after fighting Cassa and Witter doesn't fit the bill.

Shane Moseley's the worst one for me. Used to be such a fan and was cheering him on against DLH the first time round, then in the rematch he wins about 2 rounds and his dad is whispering "look son, we're losing the fight" between the end rounds (picked up on the Sky cameras). Then the 'judges' give him the decision and he can't hide the shock before busting out that big shit-eating grin. And him and his dad's all like "oh yeah we always knew we were winning" in the post fight interview. Please.

:box: nice to see some posative reaction to this fight, its about time we had the best of the division in britain fighting instead of waiting for promoters to get world title shots that dont happen because tv wont play ball, good on lynes for calling out witter :TU:

If Lynes doesn't get ko'd he'll make Witter work for the decision, he has a high workrate. Lynes doesnt have a huge dig but its reasonable. I also think his comp is underated.

Lynnes unless I remember wrongly got a home town decision BUT it wasn't that bad of a robbery as he had some decent moments and put allot of pressure on his opponent (I only watched it once though). Bobby won about 9rounds in the rematch hand still got screwed. The ref actually awarded Earl the round that he hit the canvas on

Possibly ability wise, but I wouldn't say on paper (especially Vilches). Just who has Vilches beaten, at least Lynes has a "win" over Pablo Sarmiento and a geniune win over Kevin Bennett.

Stewart lost his last fight after Hatton and Vilches is on a losing streak. Neither were ever special. I'd say Lynes is at least as solid as them.

Don't see it like that myself mate.

Lynes is a steady fighter and has plenty of heart, but he's not much above British level. A blind man would say he was fortunate to get the last two decision's he has gotten.

Other than that he has a good win against an inexperienced Bennet (who was coming off a loss)

This fight goes two ways: Witter bombs him out early, or Lynes makes a mockery of the hype that is J.Witter ;)

The Witter-Lynnes triple title fight is set for 21 October 2005 at the York Hall.

Another Hennessy/Matchroom promotion and a good mix of their stables on the undercard, LIVE on SkySports.
