You're not allowed to fight for a 'world title' fight at the same time as EBU, Brit belt etc. being on the line. When Matt Skelton fought for the WBU title he was immediately stripped of the commonwealth title, and then had choose between the WBU or British title. Thankfully he chose the latter.Zhuge wrote:Would this be for the IBO belt as well? That may not be important, but it could be a useful bargaining chip for Witter in the pursuit of Hatton
EBU is a far better bargaining tool, or at least a better way to get you up rankings, than the IBO title. As others say, this will just be a keep busy fight for Witter, waiting to see what becomes of the WBC title.

A bit disapointed as a Witter fan, but there aren't really any decent name opponents out there. And at least we get 1 domestic clash at 140
Lynes is a skilled, decent, solid pressure fighter who I like. HEs like a smaller poor mans Hatton. But I scored his last fight to Gallardo. I'd still say hes possibly the British no3.

Screw Kotelnik, he hardly did anything till late so it was his own fault he lost and he didn't give Witter that many problems even in the later part and easily outboxed him in the first 6.hitman_hatton1 wrote:oh my god that is a pants fight.![]()
give kotelnik his rematch. :x
Probably over worked himself due to the first 6 being easy and he was probably trying to go for the ko.
lynes witter
cant wait to see a all british fight with no 2and3 in britain long overdue these two will put on a great show witter will start favourite but what odds on lynes producing the goods?

Diabolical match in my opinion.
Even for a treading water fight it's terrible. If they insist on this route then i'd rather see Ted Bami in there, at least he can punch a bit.
As marking time fights he should be in against someone like Corley or any of Hatton's past 4-5 victims.
Lynes is not good preperation for a world championship match...Dear oh dear.

Lynes isn't great for a world title fight (Omar Weiss is probably the opponent I'd be looking at for that purpose) but I think he would be better than Bami. He is ranked higher than Bami and also I think is more durable than Bami.
I wouldn't mind (as a treading water fight) see Witter vs Olusegen (or however you spell it) he seemed to be quite good vs Pryce.

This fights is an absolute disgrace. What happened to the Golden Boy Promotions deal MH was spouting about. US TV exposure, World titles? All bullshit as I have said before. This fight has been made because little Mick is now Barry Hearn's bitch and will do as he is told, plain and simple. Colin Lynes should be protected, he will get battered and added to the long list of Hearn Boxers who have ended up in hospital after his appaling matchmaking. Why do the Board allow this to happen for the British title?
Quite sinply this is a scandal and BH and MH should be ashamed of themselves.
Boxing deserves better.
