Yes I don't think Barrera is looking forward to another fight with Manny too much. Can't say I blame him after such a long career though.
Trouble is, off the top of my head, I can't think of too many other mega fights out there for the deserving Manny Pac.
Oscar will probably talk MAB into giving it another go. Really hope they don't try for Barrera/Morales 4 though...
And Marquez seems to have one of the most hard to deal with managers in the game, not doing him any favours recently. Plus JMM is not in too many exciting fights, apart from the PacMan fight, which is one of my all time favorites. That first round comeback was just unbelievable.
Noticed a respectful looking PBF watching ringside. Seemed to be cheering on PacMan - are they friends?

What a shame Floyd left Super Featherweight behind, what a fornicating amazing fight Floyd against Pacman would be. For once, he might find himself against someone who was fast enough to hit him hard and often.

If JMM keeps Pac at bay, PBF has no problems countering Pac in the pocket, and PBF is faster and has the angles/movement to make Pac look 1 dimensional, PBF could bang somewhat at 130 too and would have got stronger at the weight if hestayed at 130

I think that those body shots really really took it out of Morales, he absorbed a lot of left and right hooks to the body through the middle rounds.
You'd probably find it hard to believe Benitez only trained a week for Leonard and Sanders didnt do any roadwork for Vitali. He beat Manny once. When u get older u lose the hunger somewhat rather than 'getting old'

IMO, it was a combination of those body shots and the fact that Pacquiao was so dialed in. I think any featherweight would look in bad shape going against someone in his condition last night.
If only he comes in like that every fight.

Not really, because Benitez was a certified nut, and Sanders a fat lump who banked everything on a TNT left hand.
Morales took a lot of punishment, so had to be in shape to last as long as he did.
Seem to remember he was hurt with body shots way back when he won the title against Zaragoza.

What a good fight for fans to watch. Manny looked to have Morales beat from the 6th on. It was sad to see the look on Morales' face as he was leaving the ring. It maybe the last time we see this great Mexican warrior in the ring.
Who next for Manny? I would like to see him fight Raheem or JMM rematch. I think he would stop Barrera again IMO.

Okay, I AM a Pacman fan - I was mightly impressed with his Barrera performance (more so than this one) and think he is already in the great bracket.... But, whats this love fest with him all of a sudden.
Not saying I don't agree with a word any of you (James and MW) are saying - but "a pity Floyd has left the Super Featherweight devision" cause Pacquiao would have given him a fight..... like Barrera and Morales when Floyd was a Super Feather couldn't.
Before we all claim that Pacquaio is better than the Mexicans ever were (as it seems like the opinion of some) - let me remind you what happened 12 months ago between Morales and Pacquiao. Let me also remind you, who the majority of poster here thought won the Marquez vs Pacquiao match.
And before we write off Barrera chances in a rematch (and I do favour Pacquiao - I even think his good performances since are not quite what they were 4 years ago) - lets not forget that Barrera hurt and floored Pacquaio.
I'm not saying your not correct, of course I would have love to have seen Pacquiao vs Mayweather - but I also would like to have seen Barrera/Morales and Marquez vs Mayweather also - and given them as much of a chance as a do Pacman.

The reason I mentioned Pacman v Floyd is particularly because of Pacmans handspeed. Barerra actually has pretty fast hands too, often overlooked. Morales has always been that step slower, but his toughness, his power (in lower weights espcecially) and his ability at range have overcome his lack of speed and movement.
I don't know whether or not
I don't remember Barrera flooring Manny, what round was that? It's a while since I saw it now mind you, and the abiding memory is Barrera getting taken to pieces.
Maybe Morales didn't come in in the best shape, but that's mere speculation, the fact is Pacman DID improve on his previous performance.
What sanders or Benitez may have done has no bearing on what morales did in preparation.

jamesmcdonnell wrote:What Rot.
1 Raheem is not a shit fighter, and he is a genuine lightweight, Morales came in undertrained and undermotivated against a naturall bigger man.
2 It seems Manny never gets any credit for beating people, it's always because they 'weren't themselves.'
3 Morales looked fine in the 3rd-5th, but Manny went back to fighting his way into range and upped the pace after that, and Morales couldn't match him.
Where did I say Raheem was a shit fighter James, Tell me that?

Your implication was that if Morales lost to Raheem, he must have already been on the slide.
Morales moved too far up the weights is the more likely answer and underestimated his opponent.

Not at all James please re-read the post mate, I stated that he had lost to Raheem and although I hoped he would win the fight with Morales he has clearly slipped.
IMO Morales of a year or so ago wouldn't have lost to consecutive fights against Raheem and Manny, Obviously that is just opinion based just as your post is.

Looks like the midlands....too far for a chat and a beer for me.
In a sensible world, the doghouse and boxrec forums would be able to put their heads together and organise a london one. However this is obviously a fanciful idea.

Pac proved himself a terrific fighter. I was sad to see one of my favourite fighters of modern times go down to a stoppage defeat but that's boxing.
Incredible feat for Pacquio to have stopped both Barerra and Morales.
I would like to see Manny fight Barerra again, that would mean they've all fought each other twice. Barerra deserves a chance to avenge that loss although I'm not sure he wants it after Saturday night?

Great fight, although it was sad to see Morales finish like that. Pac man is a phenom and has to go down as an all time great after beating both Barrera and Morales. Also, to win a world title at flyweight and to be beating the top super feathers must be an unheard of feat. It seemed as though he got to Morales at the right time though, that wasnt the real Morales I saw last night. Still you cant knock Pac, id love to see him fight Barrera next then Juan Manual Marquez again

If Manny's management are any good, they'll steer clear of a Marquez rematch. It's not like he needs it, and JMM must be an absolute nightmare to fight.
If he beat Barrera in the rematch, is he an all time great? Considering he was KO'd twice in the 3rd round a few years back, that's one hell of a comeback.

Manny is almost a certain hall of famer already, unless he gets done over and goes into rapid decline. He's already a multi weight champ lets not forget.
Who knows how much more he will achieve, not an all timer yet, but not a long way off.

Hes already an ATG - linear at flyweight, belt holder at Super Bantam, Linear at Featherweight, beat Morales, Barrera and drew with Marquez not to mention hes now the top dog at super feather and will be linear in a 3rd division if he beats Barrera.
Plus hes still only 27 who knows what else he may achieve, Hatton-Pacman anyone? Not as unthinkable as it may seem - Pacs faster and maybe hits as hard as Hatton and works as hard.

Hang the fornicate on. "Barrera hurt and floored Pacquaio". You are aware that that was a total bullshit knockdown about 1 minute into the fight?? After that Manny total dominated Barrera and I can't recall Barrera hurting him even once that whole fight. Pacquiao has not been
seriously hurt in a fight since he got knocked down by Nedal Hussain about 4 years ago or something...

Thanks, I thought I was going mad as I had no recollection of Barrera ever hurting Manny.
Manny has a bloody good chin, Marquez, Barrera and Morales have all landed some humdingers on him with little effect. He gets shaken up as in knocked back physically, but he seldom looks like going down.
I wonder if his earlier losses weren't a result of weight draining, he must have had to kill himself to make the lower weights, as he is naturally very muscular.
There's no way Manny will be able to go as high as 140 mate, no way, he would struggle against the likes of Castillo at lightweight let alone a huge 140 lber like Hatton.

I have to agree with the title of this post. It was a great performance from Pacquiao and just a wonderful fight where boxing really was left the winner. The sport takes a lot of flack and has it's low points but this fight was major high point for boxing.
Manny broke the unbreakable (Morales) with a superlative showing and what guts Erik showed as he tried to stick with it. I felt very humble watching these two magnificant warriors put everything on the line to compete with each other.
Morales should have boxed like he did last time, Juan Manual Marquez showed the world how to master Manny, but you can only give the Pacman 100% credit for harrassing Morales with punishing shots at every opportunity until he just couldn't take anymore.
I can't imagine how Manny must be feeling today after claiming the scalps of two of Mexico's greatest boxers. 8)
