Believe you me, Elcock would fight anyone. He hasn't been offered the fight since it was was proposed the first time, if he had been offered it again i'm sure he would have taken it.The proposed Elcock battle was a bit of bastard. Injury and illness caused both fighters to pull out, then the fight just got swept under the table. I'm pretty sure the Elcock camp have been offered the fight a few times since, but they've never wanted it. Neither fighter has much to gain from the fight. Gary would prove, and gain nothing chinning Elcock.
It's a common misconception that Wayne is 'chinny'. If Elcock was 'chinny' how come Yuri Tsarkenko couldnt knock him down after landing a heavy, heavy right hand? This is the same Tsarenko that had taken Lockett to school a fight earlier.
When Murphy beat Wayne, the shot that knocked Wayne out was a right to the TEMPLE, it never landed on his jaw. In the rematch he anhilated him, knocking him down three-times. Murphy landed some decent blows, but couldn't stop Elcock in his tracks.
As for the Lockett-Elcock fight. Well, i would favour Wayne. I think everyone has gone a bit overboard with the Eastman performance, who, in truth was only an Area level fighter at light-middleweight and could never take the greatest shot. Before that win, could you honestly say Lockett was looking much cop, eh?
Elcock is an excellent counter-puncher, who i would favour to pot shot the incoming Lockett all night.
Just my opinion, though!
