Bika is a poor opponent as far as I am concerned. Calzaghe wanted superfights only instead we get this dross possibly followed by *ahem* Glen Johnson as the 'megafight'. Calzaghe and Warren are a pair of wankers and those that buy into this shit are what has kept this WBO merry go round going for 9 years! I will not be watching, enjoy it.

I can accept most of that. Just don't be surprised if at worst Bika goes on to do good things in the future and at best give Calzaghe several problems in there.

Bika should be in the super middle tournament for prospects. But he was way ahead of the others guys in that he'd taken fights on the road before (Japan twice) and came off a world title challenge where he showed a fine jab & great punch anticipation. (obviously, beyer is a man who really comes on in the middle rounds, a clever technician who wins close fights...)

Most long reigning title holders have lots of lesser challengers. Even in the day of one title, were Joe Louis' opponents on average anything to cum spurt over?

Nothing wrong with Glen Johnson. Fighters at middle, super middle and light heavy tend not to be glamorous unless you're a former US Olympian called Jones or Taylor. If you hail from places like the West Indies or Africa you're even less so. But those kind of guys have amazing shelf life & conditioning, and are hungry, unlike a lot of fighters who fall in love with themselves & get complacent. Glen has plenty left in the tank, always feels he has something to prove, is getting better technically all the time (check his last 2 fights, very impressive), & has wins over Tarver, Jones, Woods, Harding, Ulrich, & nearly beat Calzaghe's contemporary Ottke.

Whoever wins between Woods & Johnson will be a fitting foe for Calzaghe.

My point is Johnson is decent but its no 'megafight' as they're trying to suggest, not even close. Johnson type fights should be run of the mill title defences for a champion like Calzaghe not the one offs. Instead he fights scrubs as his regular defences and then what should be his regular defences happen once in a blue moon and become these supposed 'megafights'. Total shite.

I think you're overreacting. Johnson is better than Lacy and the whole world (except for Pundit) approved of Lacy as a threat to Calzaghe - as a more than worthy foe. Johnson is an elite fighter and Calzaghe-Johnson would be one hell of a fight. & if Woods can beat Johnson, so would Woods.

But then again, I think i would prefer to see Calzaghe fight Erdei or the Adamek/Briggs winner. I think Erdei has pure skills that are a 1/2 level above any of those guys.

Johnson is a threat to Calzaghe. Glen has fought southpaws in his last 4 fights & is developing a clever right hand counter. The very punch that Cazaghe has trouble with
