No-one ever brings that point up with PBF now do they?

I guess you are right mate, however I did spend 10 minutes on a train with Big Danny, and he is a diamond geezer. Is it just me who thinks Khan comes over in interviews as smug? Maybe it is....

As I say I like Amir Khan I just think those comments made him look chirlish now watching the documentary on him.

Khan has talked complete shyte since he started to get the star treatment...its clear just by listening to his interview he`s not the brightest light on the christmas tree
So he obviously believes in his own hype..he`s mentioned beating Mayweather over 4rnds...being a triple world champion...etc.
When in all fairness what has he shown...a dodgy chin and less than heavy hands.
He`s just another Audley Harrison
But atleast Audleys fans never accused his critics of being racist for their critism

a 5 rd fighter.
amir wouldn't last 5 rds with ricky hatton.
let alone the 12 thaxton lasted.
would amir even last 5 rds with thaxton.

Back to the point at hand, Thaxton has said anytime/place
no politics/no options and by the way your ugly promoter does not need to pay anything. No response from Kahn or F.W.
So he goes and gets floored and almost ko'ed and still he's talking smack about Thaxton???
What a idiot!
Try to be a bit humble, looks like he did not learn one thing from being humiliated live on TV.
I really tried to look past his mouth, but now he has really overdone it.
Thaxton should head down to Bolton and bitch slap Amir at his center for troubled teens, show those kids you should not run your mouth
What an ass!!!

Well he is fighting in Bolton on the Johanson Mitchall undercard in decembre so I guess he could always prove himslef against thaxton then.
allegedly was telling on the documentary about him when asked of Khan's ambition to fight for a world title next year "I wanted to screw Julia Robberts as a kid it didn't happen ether".
I don't think confidence is bad but he shouldn't talk down other fighters who he isn't willing to fight.

I'm not sure what he is trying to prove - It is all very well calling Thaxton a 5 round fighter, but he should then be quite and not say I'll be ready for him in two fights time.
Because to me that sounds like Khan is saying he himself isn't at 5 round level yet :)

james made a good point about khans style being tightened up to give him a better defence and what that will mean for his natural desire to let his hands go. its an excellent observation and shows perhaps that khan is not sure what kind of fighter he really is. one thing is certain, he is not versatile enough to be effective at both.

Why not slate Kevin Mitchell weve all heard him talkin his fair share of crap too, what about Harrison....I dont know where to start there!
I think Khan will eventually lose but not to Thaxton!
C'mon fellas Amir's a good kid, lets support him

I actually think Amir Khan has done a great deal to help revive the sport - What I dont like are some of his claims and comments about other fighters - If he didnt say such outrageous things and get peoples backs up, he would have far greater backing from the boxing fans - I dont think people are being racist when they critiscize Khan and I cant see why you thought it necessary to bring that up - I for one deplore any form of racism and any comment I make is directed at the personality of the fighter and NOT his skin tone, culture, or country of origin - I have also had cracks at Witter, Froch and Mitchell who all upset me with their arrogance - Confidence is another matter and very necessary if you want to win fights - Witters attitude however seems to have changed and I ackowledge that and fair play to the man - Sorry to hear you have had personal bad experiances with racist remarks - Just be proud of who you are and your background and sod the ignorant bastards, that way you win and they are the losers.

Maybe we should give the lad a break, he is, after all, still only 20. I don't think i've met a 20 year old who i didn't think was a cocky little sh1t. I certainly was. A lot of the stuff that he says is carefully regulated by SN/FW and it's all done in the name of promotion. By all accounts he is a humble, down-to-earth guy when away from boxing matters. He is certainly no Naz and comparisons as such are nothing but ignorant.

this aint tiddlewinks its fighting
khan is more respectful to his oppo's and future oppos than i would be
i dont want to seem like a khan arse licker but i think 90% of the posters on forums are way harsh on the lad
he is our best prospect, he is a nice lad, he has done more for boxing in the UK than anyone else in my involvement with the sport, he is willing to fight the best & is doing well for a 12/13 fight novice
so why do we want him to fail so badly, after JC & hatton have gone in a few years we have only really got Haye & Khan that look likely to do well on the world scene

Justified critiscm doesn't equal wanting the lad to fail.
That's the trouble debating with nut huggers, they make up stuff that wasn't said.

Selling boxers and building a boxers confidence is about hype. A little big of trash talk is part of boxing today. It seems were all a bit too sensitive to it. Khan will step up, hes due an easy fight next time and lets hope he gets another step up after the next fight. It takes time to grow into a world class fighter.

I don't mind talking up a fight to sell ticets for that fight but talking up a fight which you show no inclanation to take is just hipocracy.

Not sure why you highlighted my quote, I dont want Khan to fail but I do think he needs to cool the things he says at times - He has done great things for the sport as you say and he is very much needed for the continuation of exciting British boxers after Calzaghe and Hatton retire - When ambition comes over as bigheadedness and confidence as arrogance there are those who want to see him taught a lesson - I just want to see him take his career stage by stage learning from each fight and see where it takes him - Not spouting off about being better than anyone at his weight and holding a world title by next year - Personally I dont see him being better than Euro standard but I would love to be proved wrong.

At the risk of jumping into this whole thing, I think this is how most of us see the situation...
...No one dislikes the guy. He's clearly a talent, a British talent. If anyone dislikes him, or is critical of him (and you can be critical without disliking someone) it's certainly not because he's a Muslim or Pakistani. I for one havn't actually given it a moments thought until I saw Timmbo ask whether we didn't like Khan because he was Pakistani.
How I see it is, any criticisms of him (for instance the most common, "the opponent's shite", or "he's going to get dropped as soon as he steps up" stems not for one moment from his race or religion, but his promoting. A number of Khan's opponents have been poor - non-punchers, 50/1 shots. Now I'm not saying Frank and the Khan camp are not entitled to ease him into things. Some of the alledged Khan bashing has come from those who think the progression could have been quicker. It's also been noted a lot of opponents have been non-punchers - that's where the questions over whether Khan is Chinny stem from. Not because he's Pakistani.
But anyway that's a seperate argument. The point is, is that Khan has had his path planned for him in his first dozen fights. So the next lot of disagreement comes when Khan is quoted as giving his thoughts on furutre opponents - Thaxton, Murray, Mitchell etc, plus all the "I'm going to win a world title by...
Obviously, he's been saying he's going to beat them. Personally, I don't interpret it as arrogance. I think he's a great kid, eager, hungry, ambitious. And I think most of us recognize that. But then we also recognize that Khan isn't going to be fighting these guys very soon. (Or at least he wasn't 3 or 4 fights ago when I'd take a stab at a time when Khan was talking about taking these guys on.) So Khan's building himself up mightily, whilst in the ring he's taking (comparatively) smaller steps. He's getting ahead of the game. So a lot of people are thinking, "yeah yeah yeah. Heard it before. But when are you going to stop the talk and fight them?"
That's where I see the criticism stems from. Absolutely nothing to do with his background, the suggestion of which gave me quite a jolt.
And re Mitchell, well, we do slate him. Perhaps not as often as Khan, but then again Khan has had far more exposure, has been fighting more often, has been built up far more, there's greater expectation of him, and has been more outspoken about opponents he'll fight (and beat) and world titles he'd win.

Precicely, if the over eager Khan had had his way he would have losses on his record already - FW holds the reigns and that keeps the lad from biting off more than he can chew.
