Sonny again behaved like a pork chop. It's a shame the bout with Shannan Taylor fell through. They deserve each other. You probably would be hard pressed to find anyone to referee it.What about the WBF. Three guys in the ring.Sonny & Yoshi( these days aged 41) are just not world title standard. A joke.Junmar Dulog beating Heath Ellis was a surprise .

One can only sum up this night using the hackneyed phrase: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

The Good:
Gairy St Clair's silken skills in outpointing a persistent Robert Oyan. John Akauola's unaminous effort over a game Stewart Edds. John Cotterill's power body punching to unseat a tough Ruban Santillanosa and a strong performace by Craig Parke over Nick Xipolitas. A matchup between Johnny Cotterill and Gairy St Clair should be a priority in the New Year.

The Bad:
The bout betwen Brendan Batty (26 fights and unbeaten in 2007) versus an inexperienced Chris Smith (2 fights - 2 losses) was a total mis-match on paper. And it proved to be so in the ring with an early stoppage in round 2, even with Brendan just going through the motions in round 1.

The bout between Chad Bennett versus Payachai Sithparadorn was stopped in Chad's favour due to an bad error by referee: McMahon in round four. McMahon claimed a head clash caused the cut to Chad's eye but repeated replays showed it was a straight right from Payachai that did the damage and subsequent action showed no evidence of an accidental head clash. A terrible hometown decision and one that should have gone to Payachai. If the video technology is there, use it to stop such joke results.

The Ugly:
What can you say about this WBF (What a Bloody Farce) fiasco of a fight. It was a disgrace to watch and Jeff Fenech in the commentary team was especially angry in what was happening before our eyes. The referee lost control as Jungle Boy went ape in the ring. Yoshinori was badly cut to the temple and the claret was really flowing. Fortunately this shambles was stopped in round 3 and a draw declared. Yoshinori should give it away and any promoter who takes Jungle Boy on is asking for trouble.

These "Bad and Ugly" bouts did boxing a great dis-service in highlighting the dangers of mis-matches and lousy refereeing.

John Akauola was suppose to fight Batty over 8 but Akauola pulled out, and the Doctor stopped Hollywood's fight on the first cut wich was caused by a head clash.

As for Jungle Boy Keep him off TV and he doesn't play up as much he's worse than Mundine when it comes to getting attention.

I was in the corner. the Doc didn't look at the cut that was caused by the punch. he was concerned about the first cut which was caused by a head clash in the first round. He didn't see the second cut untill we got back to the dressing room.

sorry I shouldn't be trying to make excuses. but the cut which was caused by the punch was on the eye lid and didn't look that bad. I shouldn't have said that he didn't see it because he did, I should have said he wasn't worried about the cut on the eye lid. Being mates with Chad I just got a bit defensive.
