This fight is the biggest fight out there for both of them. They both know that. Klitschko need a nemesis like Haye just as much as Haye needs a shot at the world heavyweight title. The money and promtional opportunities that will come about as a result are also not to be shirked at. This is the only heavyweight fight that will get people talking and make heavyweight money.

It's all in good fun. We need this kind of thing to put some spice back into what is a crappy heavyweight division at the moment. It's just a friendlier version of the way the then Cassius Clay baited Sonny Liston back in the 1960s and who'd have given the skinny Louisville lip a chance against the juggernaut like Liston?

I think Haye's going to surprise a few people in the heavyweight division where he can come in at his natural weight. He must have had to kill himself to get down to cruiser. A strong, fast, 16st 1-7lb Haye's going to be a hard night's work for anyone.

I mean come on, Wlad was dreadful in his last fight. Watch that and you can see why Haye's confident.

Know it's becoming a cliche, but win or lose it's going to be fun watching Haye against the big boys, that's for sure.

I'm glad Haye said he would be coming in at 220.

Povetkin has never been impressive, but it was particularly worrying to see him gassed and out on his feet against a negative non-puncher last time out.

Povetkin has 'earned' his shot by beating an old never was in Larry Donald, another faded guy who now fights at 175, and Eddie Chambers......Is any of that really noteworthy stuff that makes him such a deserving contender?

Povetkin is a trier with decent workrate for a heavyweight, but he's very mediocre, lack power.....and a Klitschko/Povetkin fight is about as inspiring as Nicky Piper's hairdo!

Well after beating Byrd, Donald and Chambers in his first 15 fights I see Povetkin as arguably the heir apparent to he division...to say Povetkin has never looked impressive is nonsense...obviously you have a deep love of haye and you are entitled to that but your post smacks of pure ignorance...

I have to admit, I like Haye, he has done everything correctly, gone to France ect but he has been bounced of the canvas for fun a certain times, lets get a grip, let him earn his shot!!

I could write a big post slagging off Haye, just to be negative as some here are being towards Povetkin(a bum, gee whizz) but I wont, I like to keep a level head..i want Haye to acheive and hopefully he will but he isnt superman, this isnt the unbreakable Michael Spinks or Evander moving up, hes fragile, I bet Wlad doesnt think he will be figting him EVER, I bet Wlad thinks he will be destroyed before he even gets to fight THE MAIN MAN IN THE DIVISION

And in the end, what does it matter?, he isnt getting a shot at Wlad anytime soon,Povetkin will get his shot first, if Wlad is as bigger bum as some on here think he will get beaten soon enough, lets just see how Davids career develops

Povetkin is very skilled and has a great workrate. How are you supposed to shine vs Donald, Byrd and Chambers? They're all defensive minded spoilers.

To put things in perspectiv,e you say Povetkin was gassed vs Chambers yet he was throwing up to 90 punches per round, over 12 rds. Povetkin also had the flu making this more impressive. Clinton Woods was said to have had the flu vs Tarver and Clinton barely did any fighting never mind throwing lots of punches.

Povetkin is the only heavyweight who throws combos. To call him a mediocre trier is absurd. This is a man with vast amateur credentials, who's faced about every style imaginable in the amas and is being brought along with purpose by a normally conservative European promoter (Sauerland).

Fighters like Haye AND Povetkin will make heavyweight worth watching. Just cos you want to elevate one guy, does it require you to piss on another?

Of course Povetkin is a worthy contender. He just won a fvcking 4-man IBF tournament. Calvin Brock is permanently blind in one eye after taking Chambers' accurate pot shots BTW.

You label Povetkin as the 'heir apparent' but say my post smacks of pure ignorance, because i don't rate the guy.....Yeah that sounds right

Povetkin is smallish, easy to hit, not particularly fast, doesn't hit with any real authority and was in trouble late on against an even smaller heavyweight last time out.
On the plus side he's game and has a good workrate, but thats not going to be much use against a guy like Klitschko who will keep him on the outside and drop bombs on him from distance.

I think we all know there are questions about Haye's punch resistance and stamina. I don't think anyone's argued against that.....but he still provides a hell of alot of problems for any heavyweight out there, and imo is way more of a threat to Klitschko than Povetkin.
Haye has power and speed that has to be a concern for any heavyweight. These are attributes that Povetkin simply lacks, and unfortunately for him they're attributes anyone who plans on beating Klitschko must have.

Povetkin is totally unexceptional, and that will become painfully apparent if he ever gets into a ring with Klitschko or Haye for that matter.

Lucky for him he's been facing negative spoilers to 'earn' a shot, as a decent attack minded heavy would take his head off.

I could piss ball about giving Povetkin props for winning the little IBF round robin....but im saying it like it is. He's nothing special and you'll find that out soon enough. If Alex proves me wrong then i'll be first to hold my hands up and say so.........but he won't.

Povetkin looks to be mostly a high workrate fighter who lacks head movement, but throws a lot of punches and puts on the pressure.

If Chambers could punch he could of KO'ed Povetkin, Klitschko will blast Povetkin away, he's been rushed too and only Chambers tested him but got lazy.

Haye could beat him as well as long as Povetkin doesn't get on the Inside since he hits harder than Chambers.

Chambers had the fight punched out of him. Having talent is one think but not being able to/not having the heart to use it is another. Povetkin can find a way to win. Chamebrs throws fast shots - some of the fasest at heavyweight - and like I say he hit correct and hard enough to blind Calvin Brock in one eye. Brock has obviously quit boxing. Chambers will make a good cruiserweight champion.

Povetkin has come along more impressively than ,most young fighters like Khan. A fighter actually being moved with purpose. His only drawback is that the champion stands 6'6, 250-lbs. The Amir Khans of the world don't have this kind of 3-inch height, 20-pound weight disparity problem, obviously. If Povetkin can overcome this disadvantage, he certainly is an exceptional fighter.

It's no use seeing one fight, one that is against a defensive, slick operator and then claiming to know all there is about the guy. I rated Povetkin for a good year or two and I expected nothing more than a tough win over Chambers.

Povetkin is the only guy at heavyweight with the fitness and the ability to close the distance. I give him a better shot than Haye at upsetting Klitschko. Wlad is just holding the division up. When WK faces Povetkin, the class of Povetkin will show and it will be in no way a routine Wlad defence.

Is "Rocky balboa" the boxred equivalent of Junior Witter??? :-)

Anyway the video was quite entertaining yet cringe worthy at the same time....

Wlad clearly doesnt like bad mouthing people and is a true gent... Haye is a nice guy too although you wouldnt think so watching that clip....

I dont think Vitali would have taken that kind of approach is such a diplomatic fashion!!!
Yep, Vitaly definetly has a meaner streak in him than his brother. If only Wlad had Vitali's natural aggression, he'd be a much better fighter.

Not seen this yet, but this is all good stuff for building a fight which i think must happen. Haye definetly has his work cut out against a guy who is so much bigger and who can whack from the outside, but by christ, he'll give it a go, and we should all be thankful for that.

Haye's got a good chance if he can catch Wlad early, and Wlad is a slow starter who likes to pick his opponents apart, but I think the big Ukranian will prevail.

What about if people aren't just judging Povetkin off one fight though? Is it not possible that other folk have also seen plenty of him in action. Both sides have seen the evidence, but whilst you rate him, they don't.

Povetkin can make some noise at Heavyweight. At Cruiser (not that it's going to happen but his natural weight I think) I think he'd clean up with Haye gone.

15 fights and he's won a world title elimination tournament already.

Most Heavyweight prospects these days are still fighting guys with losing records at that point!!

Another Interview with Wlad right after Haye's trash talk. Holyfield also stayed at a weight that was not too high for him also.

All i can say is that if Haye loses his first fight at heavyweight he's going to look like one great big tit.

Fair play to him though, he's trying to hype the fight and himself, but Klitschko was spot on. First prove yourself before running your mouth like your the second comming of Holyfield!

Not many boxers and even sportsmen do what Wlad does for humanitarian causes, and it is a shame for anyone regardless of their rank to errupt in there and taunt him with bad mouth...
Besides Haye calls Povetkin and Thompson "bums" but i am not sure at all that Haye would beat either of these 2 ! I would favor Thompson and Povetkin over Haye !

Raff at least some of us are talking about the charity which without Haye's intervention we wouldn't be.

fair enough for hyping the fight he just has to walk the walk in his fights at HW and an english speaking good lucking articulat HW who KOs will get the shot.

Haye is bringing a bit off excitment into a very very boring heavyweight scene, He also brought to peoples attention a very lacklustre champ , not to mention publicity for the charity, all in all he got us and others talking about a division that realisticly no one has give a fack about for a couple of years now, is that so bad a bit of old fashioned hype is god every now and then.

Plus theres the fact if were totally honest , if you were Haye or his management you would have to be pushing for this one has soon has possible simply because when he does get in with the big boys thers a bit of russian roulette gonna go on. First of all we know the heavier punchers can hurt him . But question is can he hurt them . and unless he is smart enough and quick enough to not get hit before he gets a shot at the champ he's only one punch away from being laughed at by all the big boys

Personally i agree with him try and get the big one straight away just in case he is exposed becuase at the moment he's unknown at that weight and to be honest the opposition he has faced up till now have not excatly been super star quality have they.
