Not sure how motivated Pac will be for this. When was the last time he fought for a major title belt? It's clearly not something high on his agenda. So that leaves the unfashionable Diaz as the prize, hardly the biggest scalp in the world, and shouldn't he have lost to Morales anyway?

Please lets not have another miserable outcome. Nothing worse than momentum-killing fights that didn't need to happen, i.e Tito v Winky.

Fair enough

But over the last few years title fights for Pac-Man do seem to be down to circumstance rather than design.

I don't know how Pac will react vs suc a naturally bigger, stronger man.

Diaz is limited but tough, strong and powerful.

Manny is not exactly a boxing genius. yeah, Pac should be a level above but he could definitely hve aslip up vs a bigger man. Different class of fighters, but also different natural size/weight as well.

I agree pal.

I am looking forward to this one. Pacman steps up another division to face a natural LW with the strengths and weaknesses you mentioned. It will be interesting.

terrific performance. People were taking the mick that hatton would be too big for pac. On that performance i dont think so.
Also biggup to Diaz for taking it on the chin.. Good interview after.

Exciting performance by Pac. Even tho Diaz was a poor champion. It was good seeing him show his qualities vs a young, big opponent. A lot of Pac's wins were a tad unsatisfying, like the controversial bouts with Marquez and beating on older, clearly faded versions of MAB and Morales (still achievements, but in the rematches you knew exasctly who was going to win).

You've got to appreciate Pacquaio.

The guy steps up to the mark, chases the big names in the game and produces. Great performance again last night. A former Flyweight world champ now holding a Lightweight belt - it's some achievement whatever way you look at it.

Pacman was very very impressive. He was fast, mobile, and showed good variety in his work.

He really bustedd Diaz up, and looked the stronger man in there.

I thought his power was fading as he moved up, but on the evidence of last night, I'm not so sure.

Pacman v Hatton. Bring it on.

I thought Pacman looked very good - but I was very disappointed with Diaz. HE looked like a journeyman.

Pac looked superb and totally blew away my fear that he might not be up for the fight.. It says something that he's going to have to move up to 140 just to be tested.

I think Nate Campbell is tough and crafty enough to beat Pac. They could do it for all 4 belts as well. Would be funny to see HBO sell this fight as for the undiputed lightweight title, and then put on the Casa/Marquez fight as for the "lineal, real title".

I think Campbell would be beaten at his own game personally. I'd still like to see the fight though.

Manny hasnt fought a top lightweight, David Diaz was not a top level lightweight he got a gift belt and a lucky decision against a shot Morales.

Lets see how Pacquaio does against Guzman (whom he wouldnt fight at 122 of 135), Nate Campbell, Casamayor, Juan Diaz and ofcourse Marquez who most had winning their last fight

A superb performance but this doesn't make Manny the top man at lightweight, it makes him a top 6 fighter at the weight

You may well be right.

But until the top 5 fight each other we will never know who the top man is at the weight. This is true across most weight categories. Oh well such is boxing today.

I'm not convinced those other guys would do such a punch perfect job on Diaz. Pac is the man to beat at 135.

Guzman isn't the fighter he was IMO, and doesn't have the punch at this weight.

Brilliant performance from Pacquiao. He finally started using that right hook which Freddie Roach is always saying they have been working on and it hurt Diaz quite a bit. Then again it seemed like every punch was hurting Diaz quite a bit. The lightweight division is jam packed now, I just hope all the top guy's stick around for a while. I'm really looking forward to Campbell/Guzman, that will be a good one.

Would be horrible Hatton has been quite average recently. Why should a brilliant fighter like Pac give away such advantages in size?

I'm not 100% sold that manny will look so good vs a top level lightweight. Diaz was a very poor champion and I could see a lot of ppl outclassing him. For Manny - a former flyweight - to do so is a big achievement but most world class lightweights would have had Diaz, who needs something more than bravery and strength at world level.

Not sure it makes sense for Top Rank to put Manny in with a much bigger Golden Boy Fighter. That would be giving their rivals some serious advantages and I can see Arum going elsewhere. Not matching Manny with Oscar Mag recognised champions.

Only fighter who beats Pacquiao in this devision is Juan Manuel Marquez... the only other fighter I give a chance of beating Pacquiao is Khan - but its pretty remote. He might have the strength and speed and workrate to worry Pacquaio - but you would have to say Pacquaio by KO is the likely outcome.

The guy is like a Rock - I disagreed with Bunce who said something like Mayweather didn't fight as perfect a fight Pac Man last night... Pac Man is not in any P4P top ten defences - but with a chin like him (I think a contender for P4P #1 chin), the strength like him, the work rate like him, the speed like him, the power like him, the accuracy like him - he's pretty damn special and truly deserving of the #1 P4P fighter.

On a side note - really dissapointed with Satanta's coverage... Not the commentary from Bunce so much this time..... 3 world title fights and only 1 shown in full.
