Amir is going backwards. After Earl it should have been onwards and upwards, but Gomez, and now Gainer? Depressing.

Yes, Guzman-Campbell is on Setanta. They announced it recently. I don't know what Sky's plans are, other than they are supposed to be announcing some new "deals" soon. Let's hope they cover everything between them, but with as little Pay-Per-View as possible.

I imagine the deals will be interesting, there will be box office but not after first fight.

I hope so, that's arguably a better fight. From what I've heard, Katsidis v Diaz is off as they can't agree on gloves.

I don't blame Khan either. The blame sits squarely with the Promoter and the people that still pay money to go and see Khan face less than domestic quality opposition.

Until people stop buying the tickets, and the TV stations tell SN where to go, they'll keep doing it.

When was Gainer entertaining, apart from that dramatic 1st fight vs Kevin Kelly?

Like it or not Sports Network fighters are brought along slowly and if there is a risk without a significant reward it won't be taken. Its also SN policy to pick decently skilled fighters that are older and/or 2 divisions smaller. They did all this with Hatton for years until the time was right to jump on Tyszu

Khan was knocked down in his last fight so they were never going to put him in with a decent brawler following that. Gainer has been a world level operator and is a name and ex champ that will bring a few problems without posing a threat of a loss.

Everyones defence of Hatton facing Witter was 'Witter doesnt bring anymore money than any other Hatton opponents'. The same is currently true for any none world champion at Lightweight when it comes to Khan.

Mr Warren picked the perfect time to go for Tyszu and maybe he'll do the same thing with Khan. When Marquez/Pacman/Casamayor/Campbell are looking ready to go thats when Khan gets his big fight.

The bringing them along slowly Is needed for guys like Khan and It benefited Hatton greatly. Khan needs It to strengthen his fundamentals for starters.

Haye is physically strong against others of the same weight. I don't think Khan is; it's more a case of height and reach I'd say.

Sports Network safety first policy can prove to be successfull... but more often (in recent times) it leads to an embarresment.... cue Lockett vs Pavlik, Enzo vs Haye, Cook vs Luevano, Klitchsko vs Williams, Pickering vs Martinez, Barrera vs Paul Lloyd.

All non competitive fights, not saying the SN would ever have beaten the champion - but I am sure thet could have done alot better had they had more meaningful briding fights.

Are Gainer and Roy still tight?

Used to piss me off when RJJ ignored his corner to listen to Gainer at ringside, like he needed his advice to beat Telesco and Johnson!

The guy WAS a decent fighter but his day was 10 years ago. This is a shabmolic match-up.

Kahn is a joke.

He boy has got talent... But every year he says : "I want to be a world Champion next year"

Then after he beats his opponent (who is usually a relative unknown at the world-title scene), allegedly turns around and says:

"Their are some creases to be ironed out, so I think a few more fights are needed" - or something to that degree...

BUT, you can bulk up Khan's record all you like, however... The creases will not be "ironed out" if you keep giving Amir ridiculous fighters who are either:

A. Too old and too slow (which is what Gainer is).
B. A hopeless fighter with no prospects (Drillzane and Steffy Bull).
C. Fighters who have sicne seen their best day past: (St. Clair).
D. Fighters who are apparently "world-class", but who haven't got the pedigree to be in world title contention (Krisjansten and Gomez).

If Kahn does not fight any top contenders, he will NEVER be ready for a world champion...

Persoanlly, I think there's a lot to be said for Anthony Peterson or Rolando Reyes...

That means that he will have some exposure in the US.

Why would they choose Gainer? because (A) Gomez fight didnt go as planned (B) New trainer. A decent opponent right now might just end Khans unbeaten record. Gainer is the type of opponent Khan should have fought in his 6th or 7th fight which shows me Warren and team Khan are very concerned about his last performance. If they had confidence in him they would be stepping him up instead of matching him against the level of opponent he fought 2 years back. I said over a year ago he wouldnt be in a title fight before he had 20 fights behind him. I think that may be a bit optomistic now and I dont think Frank is planning on getting Khan a title fight for quite a while yet.

Yeah I agree with you Waylon - The matchmaking speaks volumes.
