I am sick to death of reading about Romanov, Thaxton, Murray, Campbell, Pacquiao.. and then we get someone like this ?

I do hope a deal can be struck with Fewkes.

I've stuck up for some of Khan's opponents more than most (not Gomez mind) but this one is terrible.

Only thing I can think of is that Khan could struggle to find taller opponent to prepare himself for a move to Welterweight... at least Gainer will have height and reach (I think).

But the minute he tastes Khan's power... he'll be in his shell... and given his reactions and speed have dulled - he will taste his power and early. He might have enough about him to last it through.

The joke is. I wouldn't be surprised is Amir Khan got beat. He’s not world class, he never will be. He’s not good enough. This will be his 19th fight and he hasn’t fought any half decent lightweights yet. He should be fighting people on Thaxtons level. Fringe European fighters.

He hasn't fought anyone half decent in his weight class yet. What will happen if he moves up to Welterweight? He'll fight bum lightweights. I can't see where Khan can go. He'll just keep fighting people like these until his 30th fight when the money has dried up. Then he'll go for a world title and get knocked out.

I said on here last week that Gainer was the red hot favourite, so was a little surprised to then see Fewkes name come into the mix.

So now it is back to Gainer, a 36 year old featherweight who last stopped someone 7 years ago.

And this is the exact reason there are questions over Khan's chin - It's all about the match making. I just hope that the network showing this fight puts their foot down a bit and says thanks but no thanks.

After watching the enigma that was Prince Naseem on Nuts TV the other night, it made me realise the huge gulf in class between him and Amir at their respective ages.

At super Bantam, Naz was incredible and his step up to featherweight for Robinson was a completely one-sided affair (although i appreciate Robinson was not himself and seemed under prepared) but there was no doubting his ability.

If Naz vs Khan was made at 135lb i would still back the Prince to win even if he had a a kebab in one hand and a bottle of fizzy pop in the other.

Khan v Gainer is bottom feeding. Amir is WBO#1. The #1 contender in the world. The heir apparent (and so on). He should have been fighting guys like Romanov & how about Anthony Peterson in a proper elim?

The sad thing about Khan - and Universum fighters like Dzinziru, Erdei - bottom feeding is that as an amateur his thrived at a world class level of opposition.

I actually believe in Khan's raw talent. There are doubts about the chin. I think the Cubans can fine tune him (hope so, anyway). Look how Haye went from being sloppy, reckless and casual, to the precision punching, sharp shooting world class force he is now.
