Its gonna be hard to get fat signing on contracts without a medal of some description, so i hope the four remaining really step it up and come through for at least a bronze

Frankie Gavin, Bradley Saunders and Joe Murray blew it, Gavin in particular.
Taxpayers money / Lottery funding gets squandered on a daily basis so it's no more scandalous than the norm.
BJ Saunders did himself proud though, made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up seeing him go for broke against the cuban.
Even if the remaining fighters do well, I think Terry Edwards needs to go, get someone who at least seems to know what they're doing. Someone who knows how to pronounce 'dejavu' while they're at it? :P

Yafai is the unsung talent of that team in my opinion. He's got the Cuban first however, and the Cubans are firing right now...but Yafai for me is and always has been the best boxer on the team. I hope he proves me right.

I was right in the sense that the Cubans are firing. Made Yafai look like a novice.

One of the dissapointing things for me so far has been some of the comments of the losing boxers, maybe team GB should advise them a bit better there.

What do you mean? I haven't heard them, but I'm guessing they're blaming the judges for their losses.

couple of them bemoaning the judging, and also Bradley Saunders said something about glad to be out, but i think he was misquoted, he meant that he was happy to be able to see his family etc, but the press picked up on just a section of what he said.

British amateur boxing has been in the doldrums for years, and this time we have 8 qualifiers, Rome wasn't built in a day, hopefully we will get a couple of medals, the games have been a success

Out of order slating Bradley for comments he made just after one of the biggest diappointments of his life. Give the lad a fornicating break. Comments taken out of context anyway but regardless u think he was thinking rationally? Do you seriously believe he wasn't arsed?

Its beside the point. This is the "best funded, best prepared team" we've ever had. Yes, we have 8 qualified this time - but then so we fornicating well should. We're Great Britain not Burkina Faso!!!! We're one of the most prosperous, largest economic and industrial nations on earth, and I get piss sick of this attitude that we've "done well", all because a few of our boxers have outclassed some Moldovans on the way to reaching an Olympics.
Do the French have some shit hot amatuer system then??? Seemingly so given the result after Saunders "effort".
They have been dissapointing. It's as simple as that, and when he turns pro, Gavin should repay UK Sport financially for his training.
