What are the chances of Froch getting on the show?

He's been regularly interviewed on the show in the build up to his fight. I've not heard them say that he's on the show today, but I reckon he'll get interviewed (unless Carl is sticking his feet up in Timbuktoo)

This has nothing to do with Buncey's show, but Froch was on Steve Wright's show on radio 2 the other day.

(in an ad break) Calzaghe come out with a rigt load of old tosh. "I'd knock Carl Froch out in 3 rounds"    He couldn't even KO an ancient Roy Jones who hasn't got the best of chins, but somehow he's going to KO Carl in 3 rounds

Looks like we've got another Hatton-Witter :witzend: :witzend: :witzend:

Calzaghe just seems to be spouting off nonsense in the hope that it keeps him in the public eye, exactly like his dad. He craves attention, and this 'will-he-won't-he' retirement shit is getting old. I bet my life we won't see Joe in a ring again.

Calzaghes head is firmly planted up his own arse. He reckons Pascal wasn't anywhere near world class and that Carl should come back after he's beat a World class opponent i.e when Joe has retired. Carl responded by saying Pascal was a young fresh determined fighter who came to win which is unusual these days, especially with 'Warrens Boxing Organisation'. Froch confirmed that the £5m was offered to JC. Joe said why should I give him the payday I don't like the bloke, he talks too much. Carl said "I've been targetting the WBC title, I was calling for the JC fight when he was the Champ, I've left him alone since he vacated the title... rather than fight me". Calzaghe seems to be doing a Hatton

US TV seem very interested in Froch Vs Pavlik, they had some interview with someone called Debouf (or somat like that from the US) saying that they really like the fight. Froch also said they'll be trying to get Taylor over here, but that he'd also love to fight at MSG. Carl said he'd love the fight with Pavlik and it'd be a far better fight than the Calzaghe fight.

David Haye's on now, he reckons Wlad could fit in a voluntary before the Povetkin mandatory (which he has to get out of the way before September 2009) Haye and Booth are off to Germany tomorrow for the Rahman fight and they're gonna be speaking to K2 whilst they're over there to try and sort somat out for March. He def wants Wlad as his next fight if poss.

Haye was asked about Chris Arreola, he said "I've not seen him fight only seen pics of him, but I hope he fights better than he looks"

Interview with Darren Barker as well. Sying he wants the British title (and to win it outright) in the not too distant future

Boxrec, Doghouse and Eastside all got 2 mentions on the show

i agreed with a lot of what Joe said.....he wouldn't beat Froch in 3 rounds.....but Froch has got to beat someone like Kessler or Taylor to raise demand for the fight beyond our shores, and even amongst boxing fans like myself.......i'd rather see Joe take on Dawson......also, Carl needs to be prepared to make sacrifices.....Calzaghe is a light heavyweight now....if he wants to talk about fighting him, then he's got to be prepared to fight him at that weight.....if the idea of the fight is a turn-off for Calzaghe now, asking him to lose a few more lbs is hardly going to entice him

In the interview Calzaghe says that wins over the likes of Froch and Dawson mean nothing and they wouldn't add nothing to his legacy because they haven't done anything yet, but I'm presuming that he thinks that a win over a 39 year old shot Roy Jones does mean something! In my eyes the win over RJJ does very little to his legacy as RJJ is obviously a shadow of the fighter he was. If JC would have beat him in 2000-2002 when they SHOULD have fought each other, then it would have been a Legendary result, but JC was too busy fighting Tocker Pudwill, Jiminez, Brewer, McIntyre, Veit).

Froch and Chad Dawson haven't got the BIG names on their records YET, but both fighters will go on to do well in the sport imo, so if Calzaghe was to to beat them the result would look alot better in 5 years time, it would obviously add to his legacy then. If Eubank would have beat Calzaghe then it wouldn't have added to Chris's legacy at the time, but it certainly would have done now.

Looking forward to seeing the Calzaghe interview in an hours time, he's supposed to share his thoughts on Carl Froch....... so no doubt I'll be back on this thread a few hours time :D
Antonio Tarver is a big name, not huge PPV - but then how many are? He is a known in the USA. Olympic medalist, star of the Rocky, smashed Roy Jones and had a fight of year canditate with Johnson (fight 1). Thats why it annoyed me when Bunce criticised Kellerman for mentioning Dawson, pre Tarver I would agree - and pre Tarver he wouldn't have been brought up by Kellerman.

Really?

Right - how many fighters, since Calzaghe became world champion, has he taken on who are undoubtedly WORSE than Carl Froch, in terms of ability and profile?

I agree with both statements, while Joe fought a lot of dross in his defences (certainly not as good as Froch is), Carl won his world title in very similar circumstances to Joe (vacant belt) but once Joe won nobody was claiming he deserved a fight next with the top guy in the division above him (which was Roy Jones), so I think its fair to say Carl needs to prove himself further before he gets to call shots like that.

He's using the WBC belt as if it's some bargaining tool with Calzaghe, even though it was Joe who vacated that belt and moved up in weight, why would he want to risk coming back down to fight for a belt he won only 13 months ago, doesn't make sense. If the fight were to happen I should imagine it would be at 175 for Joe's Ring Belt, but Carl already said 'I'm not a LHW'.

The simple point I'm making is that it's ludicrous to say that Froch needs to prove himself before Calzaghe.

Why?

Because Calzaghe has fought loads of relatively unproven boxers before.

Simple as that.

I agree with you, I just think it needs to be on Joe's terms as he his 'the man' so to speak :TU:

Oh yeah, for sure. :TU: I think £5 million clear (if that offer is for real) isn't bad...perhaps he could get more elsewhere.

I just don't think he'll want to fight Froch anyway.

Amen

It does seem Froch has some real options out there, Taylor, Pavlik, etc etc

Setanta Sports are on the money with regards their boxing coverage - they are simply top notch.

Bunce is also top notch - the abuse and criticisms he takes on here is completely unnecessary.

Boxing Fans have been crying out for extensive coverage of the sport - I cannot think of a time when we have had it so good with regards TV coverage in recent times and Setanta and ITV are leading the way too - I am told ITV are due to make an announcement in the not too distant future with regards to showcasing another big fight which is good news for the sporting fans.

Lets encourage them not kick them in the b*llocks at every opportunity!!!

Bloody hell Spud, stop being so bloody sensitive.

If ITV or Setanta are reading these forums (which it certainly appears they are) I'm sure they want some honest and objective opinions on what people like and DON'T LIKE about their productions, rather than some brown noser trying to see how far he can get his tonge up their @rse!!!

Don't need to do that my good friend!!!

In addition you mention good honest and objective opinions - for f*ck sake do not make me choke on my corn flakes!!

If that was what these forums are about then I concede to your point - now lets see what abusive trolls come out of the woodwork!!! ;;-)

And Froch hasn't fought lots of unknown boxers. Before Pascal, who was hardly a household name, his biggest wins were over a washed-up Robin Reid and Brian Magee.
He beat Damon Hague for the British title and had lots of dubious Commonwealth title defences. In Boxrec's ratings, Pascal wasn't in the top 20 before the fight and Froch is below Sakio Bika now. Obviously, theose aren't gospel, but lets not pretend that at 31 Froch has been beating contender after contender. He's a got a cheek to badmouth Manfredo and the fight Tatevosyean.

I think Froch last week was exciting. But he gambled on outlasting Pascal, because the Canadian had been out of the ring for a year and they didn't believe he could last. He looked worryingly open, though.

I have to agree the show is excellent , I really like the way he talks about every big fight regardless of the channel it is on, it makes up for the sometimes annoying between crucial rounds commerical breaks

:o :o :o

Froch's performance against Pascal was firstly one of the fights of the year on whatever TV network and secondly the peformance in my view deserved what I have said for the last 5 years = Carl Froch will prove himself a world class boxer.
