Boxing as well as being a sport its a business. Frontin is a good boxer but being from Mauritius is not a big ticket seller so its difficult from a financial point of view for any promoter to put him on the home side of the bill. This is the harsh side of the boxing business sometimes. A home boxer with limited talent but can shift a few hundred tickets will get easier fights and built up slowly. Also UK TV companies are not interested in screening non UK talent on domestic fightcards, sure there have been some exceptions but generally they want a UK hometown boy fighting for a recognised title in his hometown, I can understand that.

Its hard to get Frontin fights on small hall bills that he may win as most matchmakers and promoters do their homework. Promoters do not want to take risks in their home fighter losing and I can fully understand that. This is one of the major problems with boxing nowdays that there are not enough 50/50 pick em fights. I certainly feel that boxing needs to change this to a certain degree and Barry Hearn is trying to do this with Prizefighter. UFC has shown there is a young market out there but boxing is certainly losing out at present in attracting this young audience.

As Frontins management we have the difficult job of trying to find him fights he could possibly win but at the same time ensure he is not out of his depth and hurt. He has proved in his career so far he can mix it with the best of them on the domestic scene and with this added experience may feature in a Commonwealth Title fight in the future. This is the business we are in sometimes its not always fair but thats how it is.

Thanks for your response Jamie, i can understand its not easy for lads from places such as Mauritius to get a following over here. Even names such as Olusegun don't become big ticket sellers.

As you say its a business , and boxers like Frontin have to earn money.
I'd like to see him get a couple of wins under his belt, but i can see that when he performs well in a losing effort against Olusegun, then trying to get Frontin meaningful 50/50 matches isn't going to be easy.

I've heard that Bruno Julie the olympic bronze medalist is Frontins step brother, maybe try and tempt him over to these shores, he looked good

I agree totally. It is depressing too to go to a fight, and most of the crowd don't even bother to turn up until the main event, because presumably the undercard has so little appeal.

An undercard should support the main event- it should provide entertaining sporting contests. I know some promotions are built around a "hometown" boxer selling tickets to his mates, who then come to cheer him on picking up a win against a British Journeyman- fair enough- boxing is a business.

But from the perspective of boxing as a SPORT then at some point the BBBoC does need to do something to encourage well matched fights. I agree- Prizefighter is a good example of this. Another suggestion would be to have the whole evening as a theme. For example I have enjoyed great amateur shows that were Lancashire V Yorkshire.

The key thing with any spectator sport is that the corwd should want someone to win- should have someone to cheer for.

Building records and not fighters is the problem, how often do we see 2 top prospects in the ring together?
