Aren't Lindsay and Appleby meeting up for the British Featherweight Title soon (that being the point of the Lindsay-Matthews fight)
In the scheme of things, the British title is still a prestigious belt in boxing, enough that many Irish boxers who qualify for it compete for it. The Irish belt doesnt hold the same cache in the wider world, does it?
well the hylands do qualify for british titles (mother from birmingham) and applebys first defence is against pickering, so i dont think he will have the title to face lindsay, well jamie moore was more than happy to fight for an irish title back in july so it must mean something, and who else has irish titles? andy lee, jim rock in 4 weights, kevin mcbride, oisin fagan, andrew murray, colin moffit, matthew macklin, so obviously it does mean something and for the hylands to all hold national titles has never been done in any country ever (fact!) and paul hyland bet marc callaghan for the title so he must of taught it was worth something too,
so as many british blokes who qualify for irish titles will fight for them as well as irish fighting for british titles,

Patrick Hyland is indeed the best f the 3 Hyland brothers, however he's still nt as good as either Martin Lindsay or Paul Appleby.
Fagan p4p better than Duddy ?

, sounds like someones got a bit of Dublin bias.
Fagan isn't even the best Lightweight in Ireland, Murray beats him imo and a fight with Gomez would be interesting. McCloskey would deal with him easily at the higher weightclass of Light-Welterweight aswell. That's not trying to play Fagan down, nice guy and a very determined and decent fighter.
It's going to be very tough for Patrick Hyland to get an EBU title shot by next year. He's currently unranked by the EBU and is #15 in the EU rankings.
Comparitively Martin Lindsay is #3 in the EBU and #1 in the EU , while Appleby is #4 and #2 respectively.
Hyland not being signed to Brian Peters means it is hard for him to have the finanncial clout to attract a voluntary against the European champion. Unless Tommy Egan can help him.
